Fifteen- An Eery Entry

The boys and I had departed.
For the next three days, the five of us remained in the T.A.R.D.I.S. to rest and gain back our energy that depleted significantly after our brush with Loki and Livewire. I had been taking several naps in between watching more films, writing and gaming, and character research. I might also note that I studied on..yes..monsters. I don't think I've stressed it enough.
I have an unnatural obsession with monsters. They simply fascinate me, and have all the sympathy from me. Maybe this is why I love the boys despite all their faults.
Cuz they're their own kinda monsters.

I've learned a lot, but there's always new information to gain.
Some may call my monster studies a waste of time, same as my character studies..but I beg to differ. It has served me well.
With the way things are, you never know if it'll be coming in handy.

I sat in my now favorite chair, legs hanging off one arm, as I scrolled along on my laptop. Two of the boys were busy competing on Call of Duty, Joker in particular doing very well kicking Jimbo's butt.
Bane was busy sharpening the blades from the armory, while Master was cooking up a nice hearty meal of tacos. Considering it was now his turn to cook.
He peeked over at me, licking his fingers after placing the top back on the meat pot.
"What are you looking at, Demens?"
He undoubtedly saw the bloody zombie snippets and vampire impalements.
My only assumption.
"Just researching." "Researching zombies and vampires?" "Si, senor."
"Are you planning to kill some?" "I'm just being prepared, is all. Getting all the knowledge I can." I then looked up Frankenstein facts and tips on how to spot the Invisible Man..also identifying mermaid calls. "Now what are you looking up?"
"Frankenstein, the Invisible Man and mermaids."
"I thought you were studying zombies and vampires."
"I did. Now I'm not. I move on."
Master stepped from the kitchen, throwing a towel over his shoulder, and folding his arms.
"I never would have taken you for a monster enthusiast."
"If that is the case, my dear Master, then I have failed. I sincerely apologize."
I jumped up, taking the laptop with me, and set it upon the counter.
"I adore monsters. In fact, if I met one, I'd go full fangirl and glomp them."
"And what if they tried to kill you?"
I turned to him and pointed with both fingers at my head, "This weird little face? Preposterous."
"Yeah, don't be daft, they'd adore Sarah..like us!"
I nodded, satisfyingly. "Thank you, Jim."

I stepped aside into the kitchen to check on the meat that Master was probably burning.
"I might even be one, with all that immortal business."
"Don't be ridiculous, you're not immortal."
I spun on my heels, "HOW DARE YOU! Are you saying I'm not special?!"
"You are special..just not in that way." "I'm special in many ways, you old duck, I multitask."
I turned my head, "Bane! Master's accusing me of being normal!"
Master rolled his eyes.
"Apologize to Miss Demens at once."
I laughed as Master gaped. "You heard the beautiful masked man..and I better see some tears to go with that apology." "I'm not apologizing to you!" He hasted back to the food.
I ran behind him and leaned my chin against his shoulder, "Then you got an unpaid visit from the most violent chiropractor in fictional character history."
He shot his head at Bane, just in time to meet Bane's dark gaze as the old brute turned his torso around. Master quickly looked back. "I am deeply sorry for my accusations, please forgive me."
I patted his shoulder, satisfied, and walked away, Bane turning back to the blades.

Jim moaned, "I was hoping to hear some Master tears." "You can't HEAR tears, you moron."
"It's called crying, you duntz.. Baney! Master called me a mean name!"
"Good."
I almost died. Joker busted out laughing at this, while Master snickered smugly.
"You forgot, bug, Sarah gets special treatment, because Sarah's the favorite. Isn't that right, Bane?"
Bane slowly nodded. I moved to Bane and bent down, examining a pile of his hardwork.
"Beautiful, Bane! You really know how to make 'em sparkle!"
"Thank you, Miss Demens." "Anything he can do, I can do better!"
"Okay, Annie Oakley."
Joker grunted.
"When are those tacos gonna be done, Master, I'm starving."
"Stop thinking about food for five seconds." "You are asking me to literally die."
I got out a Pepsi from the fridge, snapped the cap off and began chugging.
"Besides, YOU'RE one to talk! You keep eating every FOUR seconds--you're eating right now!"
Master froze, as his hand hovered over the tortilla chips, a few hanging from his crammed mouth.
I shook my head, ashamed.

"So Sarah, why the sudden interest in monster hunting?"
I shrugged, pursing my lips. "I dunno...just suddenly got in the sorta creepy mood, I guess.."
I took another swig of Pepsi and reflected on things.
"Hey! Why don't we watch Scooby Doo for dinner?"
"Wonderful choice! Men, turn the game off."
Jim and Joker groaned.
"Just do it."
They whined and complained, Joker struggling up like an old crippled man and turning the system off. I giggled excitedly, running to put on the first season 1 disc. "This is gonna be so much fun, I haven't watched Scooby Doo in awhile! I freaking love Scooby Doo!"
"As evident by your giggling.." Jim observed as him and Joker began sulkingly setting up the table.

"So when are we going on our next adventure?" "Yeah, I'm craving a good fight right now."
"After dinner." Master responded, now getting out the taco meat and pouring it into taco shells, sprinkling them masterfully with shredded cheese.
Suddenly, the T.A.R.D.I.S. rumbled and shook and violently jerked with a thunderous thud and we all froze, Master staring ahead, hand over the tacos. "...or before."

I swung around towards the door, "T.A.R.D.I.S.! How terribly inconvenient, we haven't even eaten yet!" The machine then gurgled at me. Jim gasped, "Did you hear that?!"
"Yeah, the engine needs a check-up." Master passed us all, making Jim pout in disappointment at his observation being ignored, and Master threw off his towel, unlocking the door.
Here, he threw it open, and peeked outside. Jim and Joker hurried close behind, while Bane ceased his work and slowly arose.

Master turned his head back around towards me, "it's dark, like night time..and there's fog and owls calling, and Demens what are you doing????"
All eyes turned on me, as I was getting myself a taco.
"Are you seriously grabbing food right now?!" Joker exclaimed.
"What, I said I was hungry, and I meant it. I am not stepping out those doors with an empty stomach. Not my fault the T.A.R.D.I.S. is impatient."
The T.A.R.D.I.S. then chirped. Master and Jim darted their heads at eachother.
"Did you hear THAT?!"
"What, the T.A.R.D.I.S. talking?" They gawked at me.
"You knew?!" "Yeah, the T.A.R.D.I.S. has been talking to me." "You heard it this whole time?!"
I grabbed a Pepsi and strolled along. "I hear voices on a regular basis, it's nothing new to me."
I bit into my food as I passed the boys. "C'mon, boys, let's go--grab a taco."
~
We stepped out of our humble abode, into the now brisk, chilly air. True to Master's description, it was indeed night time, with fog hovering over the ground, trees resting here and there, owls hooting in the background. "Ooh.." I said at once, soon biting more of my taco.
"Spooky.." "It's creepy." "It's beautiful."
Joker shook his head, "Definitely has a haunted feel." "Indeed."
I took a swig of my Pepsi. "I love it already."
We moved further until we came right into an alley, which led right into a whole town.
I gawked. "Civilization! Yes! And it's a modern time period!"
I fistpumped with my taco hand, grinning wide. "Which means-"
"They'll have pizza, yes, of course you would say that.."
I shrugged. I looked all around at the delightfully strange town.

"This place has a definite eery feel to it.." I looked closely at all the various buildings placed about the town, trying to pick through my memory to identify it. "Something about it seriously feels familiar." "So you think you might know it?" "Oh yes, undoubtedly...I'm just glad we have a creepier environment to run around in. Makes it more interesting."

I forced some extra thought on where exactly it could be, until I could realize the answer and this was taking a very long time. I peered at every part of our surroundings, circling the boys, trying to thoughtfully finish my taco. "So, mysterious town...sort've spooky...having a bit of a monstery feel to it....yeah, I really don't have much to go on.."
But then, it hit me. Like a ton of bricks.
"WAIT. I GOT IT. WE'RE AT-"
"There they are!"
We all froze.

We quickly spun around, just as we heard a loud engine approach us from behind, and I gawked at the sheer sight of it. "No wayyyyy!!! I knew it!"
The engine came from a van. And out of the van, that parked infront of us, exited five individuals.
All of whom drew near.
"IT'S YOUUUUU!!" I beamed.
"Zoinks!" One exclaimed. "They're like, major amounts of spooky!"
"No, Shaggy, they're the ones that guy was talking about! They're good guys!"
..Wait, what?
I blinked, confusedly. "But like..I just...wait....like...what?!"
"You're Sarah Demens..right?"
"..Yes?!?!?!?!??" "How do you even know that?!"
"Some guy arrived earlier and told us about you. He said you'd arrive and help us with a mystery."
The boys and I shot our heads at one another.
???????????????????????????
"-Allow us in introduce ourselves.."
We looked back. They suddenly struck a fantastic pose as if for a picture.
"We're Mystery Incorporated!"
