Fourteen - Pt. 3 -

We once again traveled to Oscorp Tower, the five of us keeping quiet for the majority of the time. "So how come your precious Mystery Boy fled the scene before we arrived?"
That didn't take long. -_-
"Probably for the same reason he confronted you prior to you kidnapping me. He's leary of you." "Yet he leaves the care of a young girl in our supposed wicked hands."
"Oh hush. I'm sure he has his reasons."
"You heroes.." Master scoffed. "Always putting so much faith in people."
"How dare you, I happen to hate people." "What a coincidence!" J exclaimed, excitedly.
"So do I!"
I gasped, sarcastically. "TWINS!"
Master merely rolled his eyes at us. Snob.

I stopped infront of the building and gazed up at the tall structure with deep thought as my hands went to my hips. The boys followed in this, the bright cloudy sky shedding a layer of pure white upon us. We looked very dismal dressed in our dark colors with equally dark features to boot. "What chya gonna tell 'im?" J questioned amid the silence.
"That a maniac with a spear is out randomly stabbing people and most likely after him next." "Sure, why not." "That's always a delightful conversation starter." Moriarty commented. I sniffed a laugh before my gaze fell back to the ground and my bright eyes stared in further deep thought. "...don't think about what you're gonna say..just let it speak for you..the words will come to you...." I felt a couple heads turn to me.
"...er...meaning?" "......meaning..." My head lifted back up and I swallowed.
"I'll say what I have to..do what I have to..whatever comes out comes out..it's not important how I get him on my side, as long as I get him on my side."
I charged forward without bothering to let the others catch up. I overheard Joker mumble something about me bleeding out heroism or something along those lines and how it disgusted him or whatever, which I just naturally ignored as I pushed through the doors.
You learn to just ignore the boys when they villainously complain.

The doors flung open violently and slammed against the walls, loudly announcing my arrival, which immediately caught the attention of the present company.
"THE FUTURE IS NOW, Y'ALL!" I projected with open arms.
They gave me strange looks. "That's right, people, the ragtag team of misfits are back!"
I looked at one dude who gave me an almost disgusted expression and pointed at him, "Don't look at me like that, ya know ya missed us."
They were very confused and it deeply amused me. I shot a finger to the desk lady as I began to walk up the steps. "You! Desk slave! Harry ready up there?!"
She gawked at me as she jumped out of her chair and scrambled for words.
"WHA--HE--YOU--"
"I'll take that as a yes!"
The boys hopped up beside me and smiled and waved down at her, sarcastically.
"W-wait!!" "K, thx, bai!"
We were already up and inside the elevator, on our way to the top floor in rather a hurry.
We five took up pretty much the entire elevator space, leaving a few who wished to board with angered faces and not very nice words.
Either the boys' rudeness was rubbing off on me or the rudeness which already existed in me was bleeding out given the right situation. Either way, I felt rude and I laughed about it for five minutes straight. On the inside, of course.

This elevator was pretty fun, considering it was glass and I've never been on a glass elevator before. The tower was enormous and so technological, it was hard not to gaze at such a child of the modern age. People were everywhere, making me question whether they were all employees or some normal schmuck college students or business executives.
Or maybe all three.
I dunno, people kind confuse me. That aside, the boys stood patiently behind me, Master and J leaning against the sides, Master's arms crossed. Bane standing right behind all of us with his fists curled, breathing right in my ear. Jim was looking all around, appearing as bored as ever, whom I wanted to just smack for looking so dang oddly adorable.
"Now remember, kid.." J abruptly chimed. "Don't be ogling over Osborn, alright? I know he's rich, smart, brooding and no doubt pretty to look at, but we gotta stay professional here."
I turned my head, giving him the most peculiar expression, that made him raise a brow.
"I practically LIVE with you four infuriatingly attractive louts, and you're telling me to keep my cool?!" "...yes."
There was an awkward silence.
".....I've grown immune to attractiveness." "...........don't get excited."
"..I won't." "...alright." "......" ".........." ".............." "..................and don't you forget it."
"..what?" "..yeah." "..I hate your guts." "..I understand."
"Anyway, how many floors does this bloody thing have, cuz GOD." "How dare you take the Lord's name in vain." "Yugh." "And DING, we're done!" Moriarty abruptly squeaked with his hilarious high pitched alternate voice. He was on point, yes, since the elevator had indeed stopped and dinged just as he dinged, but unfortunately I fell victim to being shoved so hard out've the way, I was thrown against the glass and had received serious infliction upon my right eyeball. I winced and held my hand over my face, quickly moving back in position and visually seeking out where that little pest ran to. He had escaped and booked it far ahead of us, just as the doors had started to open. "GET BACK HERE, YOU LITTLE IRISH TWERP." "YOU'RE NOT MY REAL MUM!" "I'M WORSE!"
"Agreed, married couple." "Shut it, clown!"
I quickly jumped off the elevator in one giant leap and chased after the fleeing Irishman, who most assuredly did not know where he was going. "YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW WHERE YOU'RE GOING!" "YOLO!" "JAMES FRICKIN' MORIARTY, YOU COME BACK HERE!"
Note to self, learn his middle name to sound even more like an angry mother.

The others were hurriedly jogging behind to keep up with us, and looked positively hilarious struggling to make the turns I was in heavy pursuit of Jim Jim Moriartay.
"Ah, let 'im leave, good riddance!"
Ignoring J's continued comments, I fled past the three's sight down the hall Jim raced through and upon catching sight of Jim, I increased my speed and finally kicked him in the legs, where he staggered, and I at last pounced him as if he were my prey, shoving his pretty face into the floor. "TASTE THE DEFEAT, YOU IRISH SWINE, I BESTED YOU."
He coughed and protested through incoherent mumbles into the floor as I sat on his back like a victorious giant eagle, digging one hand in a clawed grip into his shoulder, while the other gripped onto the back of his head, holding it down where it belonged.
Jim kicked his legs, still putting up a fuss, when echoed, somewhat unsettling applause could be heard from the hallway and approaching closer. It was sarcastic, and dry, and wickedly critical, and could only be coming from one such as Joker.
"Bravo...congratulations, Jimbo, you've been assaulted and pinned by a scrawny girl."
Master laughed at this so fiercely, he threw his head back, "Oh, I'm going to remember this moment for the rest of my days, and remind you of it every second you live".
Even Bane chuckled at the silliness. Jim kicked his legs at them, despite not being anywhere near them. I almost felt sorry for his humiliation.

"Now you four listen here..you're going to behave, got it?"
"Wait a minute, when did this become about us?!"
"SHUSH!- you're going to behave and ACT like heroes and stop running off to attempt God knows what or by God, by golly, I'm gonna lose it and shoot all o' you. Set a good example for Harry and Max, like civilized individuals, k? And you, Jim, better behave..unless you wanna be locked and tied up in a janitor's closet and stranded in this dump of a city for the rest of your weird little days."
He mumbled something in reply, but I only yelled for him to shut it, followed by a tightened hold on both his bones and skull. He whinnied in pain as a result, which made Joker and Master break out in further laughter behind me.. until doors were suddenly opened somewhere and the sound of someone hurrying to us was heard and I and the others simultaneously shot our heads to the one now infront of us..except for Jim, who could only cut up his eyes. Standing ahead of us was an exceptionally lovely and well managed young woman, garbed in a black buttoned up dress, fancy heels, and long dark hair that stretched past her shoulders with adorable bangs that rested just above her deep green eyes.
Felicia Hardy.

We all six stared at eachother with either dropped jaws or widened eyes, not moving a muscle, for there really wasn't a logical explanation for what she was currently witnessing.
My mind called to speak, however my mouth had other plans as it elected to be silent.
My eyes broke from her image to glance over at the boys, then down at Jim whose face was still firmly planted into the floor. I darted my eyes back up at her and with a quick release of the scoundrel under me, I sprung to my feet and stepped to the side to allow Jim to rise.
"Oops!" I, like an idiot, blurted out with absolutely zero subtext as to why I would randomly and simply blurt out, "Oops".
Not knowing what else to do, I swiftly kicked Jim's side with my boot tip, the suited little man oofing, and struggling to get up upon my whispered command him for him to get up.
He emerged and stood by my side, wincing and groaning as our faces returned to Felicia's direction, and I smiled widely to fake an innocence.
"Pardon the intrusion...I know what you're probably thinking, but please avoid calling the coppers and just hear us out for ten minutes, k Felicia?"
She jerked her head and blinked in reply, most likely due to me addressing her by name.
I nodded, formally. "I'm Sarah Demens, and these are my, uh..traveling associates. Harold Saxon, Joe Kerr, Jimmy Moriarty.." I turned my head to Bane as I squeezed one eye closed and struggled on an alias to grant him that didn't sound like a rodent repellent.
"..Senior Bane El Masko." I said this with a hint of a Mexican accent to attempt to sound authentic. "A politician, a professional party clown, a business executive and a non-renowned wrestler." Felicia's eyes lifted to Bane in that moment with obvious doubt which naturally signaled a red flag, until I heard the tall masked bald man suddenly and dryly blurt out one single clear unexpected word that made me wanna drop to the floor, "Olé."

It took me every bit of my strength not to, but I didn't..I did not laugh.
I had a serious face, for once in my life.
"If it pleases the court, we'd like to be granted an audience with Sir Harry Osborn to discuss a rather pressing matter.."
Felicia stared at me for a prolonged amount of time, making the chances of me meeting Harry very bleak as it seemed she was simply too weirded out by us.
"..What was your name again?"  Her voice was a pleasant, quiet thing to hear.
My head couldn't help but jerk back. "..S-Sarah...with an h...Sarah Demens."
She nodded in response.
She then walked away and disappeared and we heard doors close back up.
Causing the boys to snap at me in a panic. "Who was THAT?! Now THAT is another woman!" Master exclaimed, Joker and Moriarty seeming to have the same level of arousal.
"She is so exquisite, I could kill her!"
"SAME, she's a babe!" J grabbed my arm and shook me. "Who is that, Demens, I know you know!" "Are you all deaf, I just said her name!" "Whoever it is, I have a new wife!"
I gawked at this. "Step aside, idiot, I saw her first!"
Jim puffed up his chest in a ridiculous attempt to look manly. "I'm better looking!"
"I'M older!" "Alright, alright, SHUT UP."
I wasn't offended they were going gaga over another chick, no
"That is the ideal example of beauty." "She's so ladylike and has such a soft beautiful voice." "And that hair, oof, so soft and brown and long, I wanna run my fingers right through it all day." "She's to kill for, that's for sure." "Such beautiful green eyes and lips, ugh."
Ya know those cartoons where a character is gradually becoming more and more infuriated with each passing second and their face gets as red as the fires of hell and they have steam magically rising from their scalp and their entire head looks as if it's about to erupt in a giant explosion and you hear this intense increasing whistling sound?
That was me.

 "That's Felicia Hardy, Harry's assistant." I growled.
"Ooh, lucky lad." Master smirked.
"I said sHUT IT." "Jealous much?" He teased.
I squinted at him as he chuckled wickedly.
"I have such an utter disgust for you, it's not even funny."
"I find it funny." "You, too!" I casted the clown a glare which made his eyes fall to the floor. He scratched his chin, "I have a thing for brunettes, what can I say.."
What a blind rodent. "Well I'm sure you and Jim will be very happy together. In the meantime, why don't you three louts stay here before you cause anymore damage.."
"THREE louts, can you not count, Demens?" I narrowed my eyes.
"Oh, I can count just fine." "She means to say..I am welcome..you are not."
All three Master, Joker and Moriarty gained explicitly offended expressions that made me wanna either laugh or usher myself hurriedly through those far off doors in an attempt to save my own skin. Their eyes drifted to Bane solemnly.
"why" I pointed at the brute. "Cuz he doesn't offend me 24/7. Bane is quiet, Bane is smart, be like Bane." Doors were suddenly open, making us jump, and we all five darted our eyes front and center as Felicia returned and stood infront of us, placidly. She stepped aside and gestured at the hallway leading to the doors, smiling gently.
"Mr. Osborn will see you now."

Ah, at last, results. I nodded gratefully, with a smile, and started off before the others.
  "Thank ya, chicka."
Against my wishes, the boys tagged along right behind me and Bane. I didn't wanna put up a fuss and make a scene by denying them entry, so I let it slide.
The five of us turned and pressed on through the doorway into a spacious and bright room that served as Harry's office. It was innovative and glossy, so calm that I didn't know what to do with myself. Felicia came out from behind us to the far end of the room, where at it's center was a desk, and standing at the desk, or rather behind it, staring out the window, his back turned, was Harry. The boys and I stopped a short distance away and innocently stared at Harry's back, waiting for him to take action.
It didn't take long for Osborn to notice our presence and therefore turned halfway to glance at us. But when he saw how weird we looked, well, he did a double take and his jaw ran agape. "What the.." He muttered. His voice is deep and unusual, I must say.
Rather course, but simultanously youthful. You'd think he was faking an American accent, but nay, tis genuine. No complaints, I love the boy, and that includes his peculiar voice.

As I mentioned before, Harry has dark emo-styled hair that partially comes over his bright pretty eyes when untamed. He was currently suited in a handsome solid black outfit, complete with dress pants, partially buttoned up jacket, and undershirt.

He studied us curiously, hands in his pockets, while his faithful assistant stood by his side, turned towards him whilst cutting her eyes at us, shyly. "We've been getting some weird visitors.." He quietly whispered to her, but not quiet enough.

"WOW" I suddenly said aloud, no longer being able to hold back my inner fangirl.
"I mean, wow..Harry Osborn." I was grinning from ear to ear and gazing all about the room.
"And Felicia Hardy, I mean, dude!" My eyes returned to them and I jerked my shoulders up, excitedly. "It's an honor to meet you both, it truly is!"
Harry blinked at me, clearly weirded out, before glaring at Felicia and gesturing at me.
"What is this??" Upon shaking her head, he looked back at me, looking all the more confused and in need of answers. I didn't blame him. "She said she needed to speak with you about something important..." He crinkled his forehead, "Who ARE you?"
"Ah, apologies, dear boy.." I bowed in accordance. "My name is Sarah Demens and these are my-" "I know your NAMES, Felicia told me..why are you HERE?"
My eyes fell to the floor, as did my expression. "Um..well..yes..about that."
I looked back at the boys, trying to come up with a logical reason on WHY I was there, which..I couldn't come up with anything shy of the truth, so...

I drifted back towards them and shrugged my shoulders, honestly.
"We're here to protect you." At this, he completely pivoted his body around and faced us, Felicia shooting her head directly at us, both in visible shock.
"Protect me???"
I nodded in reply, "Someone's coming after you, Harry, either to kill you or to turn you against this city, and I can't allow that to happen." "How do you even know this?!"
I tightened my jaw. "...I just do...trust me." "Trust you?! I don't even know you!"
"Doesn't mean you can't trust me."
My eyes left him and I moved to the wall of glass sitting in place of windows.
"Have you been in contact with Peter Parker lately?"
There was a brief pause. "..Peter Parker..?? No..why?"
My eyes returned. "He's missing."
I could see the change in his facial expression as I said this..there was a hint of worry and maybe even some guilt over this news involving his childhood friend.

I felt a little guilty myself for coming at him with news like this, but it got his attention, and that's what mattered. "..Are you sure..."
I picked at the dangling chain of emotion. "Yes..Gwen Stacy..someone close to him..told me herself. He came to her, explaining that some people were here for him. And that he was gonna be gone for awhile. He hasn't been seen since..she's worried, as am I. Especially after being attacked today by two people who most certainly do NOT belong."
"Attacked?!" "Yeah..."
I leaned in a bit, a layer of solemn reluctance washing over me.
"I have reason to believe those same people are coming after you, and an employee of Oscorp, Max Dillon." "W--Why..??" "Because you're both special..and let's just say, have an important role to play in this stage of the game."
"You're talking about assassins." Felicia realized. I shrugged with one shoulder.
"Basically yes...just know that they're dangerous. And need to be stopped."
"And who are YOU to stop it, huh?" I was a tad offended, but alas. "Well look at us." I said with a smuggy grin. "We're weird..and weird people are always weird for a weird reason and the weird reason being we're weird and weird people are cool. Cool people can do cool things. So weird is cool and cool is weird, savvy?"
There was an awkward pause.
"..You're not from around here, are you?" Asked Felicia, innocently.
I half-grinned, cutting my eyes at her. "..No, we're not.."

Harry heard enough standing up, therefore planted himself in his chair, his eyes glued to his desk. "..are you....." He took a deep breath, closing his eyes. "Are you SURE?"
I nodded, sincerely. "You have my word, Harry. Everything I'm saying is the truth."
Felicia stared at us for awhile before her eyes fell back on Harry and she approached him, gently laying a hand on his shoulder. His eyes flickered to her for but a second.
"Mr. Osborn...we should listen to them." "Yes Mr. Osborn, you should listen to us." Moriarty sassed. I was glad of this cuz the boys were unnaturally being completely mute and it discomforted me, so I had to look back and check on them.
The others were just standing back and watching, wtheck.

Oh well. I was just glad we found him first and not Loki and whatsherface, cuz that would suck. My head turned back, "You don't have to worry. I'm 100% on your side and will make absolute sure that no harm will come to you. You can count on that."
At this, I backed away. "Til you're ready to talk, we'll give ya some space. If ya need us, we'll be in the foodcourt. Just come fetch us when you're in need of our fabulous presence. Tata for now, Osborn." I and the others turned and peaced out, with Harry saying nothing.
That is...until a thought came in my head.
I unexpectedly swung around, "Wait....you mentioned something about weird visitors...what'd you mean by that?"  Harry stood up straight, taken by surprise by the question. "Uh..some guy came in today..he had a woman with him. They arranged a meeting with me..they simply wanted to see if I was really, well..me. Once he knew who I was, he grinned and offered me a deal to work with them. I turned them down. They got angry. Left." My heart fell.....a man and a woman.....
"What'd they look like.."
He swallowed.
"..They were kind've weird..the guy had long black hair and was dressed in a slick black suit and carried a cane..the lady looked pretty freaky..had spiky white hair and her eyes were..really..bright. I could tell something was weird about them. They didn't look natural."

My widened eyes fell to the floor as my body froze.
"...Loki..."
Before I panicked, I backed all the way up and finally spun around, gunning for the exist.
"Thank you, Harry, but I have to go."
We went through the doorway, booking it for the elevator.
"Careful who you let back in here."
~ ~ ~
"I think it's been made clear that we have a problem." I said aloud as I and the boys sat around a table inside the foodcourt. This time, we merely had dessert items as I was seated infront of my laptop, searching for the information I needed.
"Yeah.." Master agreed. "Your attackers have already located and spoken to Osborn."
"Which means they're one step ahead of us." "Hearsay! They only think they are. Still..I wasn't expecting they'd find him so soon. Which can only mean one thing.."
"We're too late and need to leave?"
I rolled my head to Joker. "NO..we have to protect him. Cuz my 'heroism' as you call it..senses an attack coming." "An attack, huh? Well, I've been sensing that, kiddo."
I squinted at him, then delved back to work.
"But the question remains..who is Loki's mysterious female companion?"
I noticed Bane was facing me when he said this and my eyes lifted once again.
"Wait what? You're asking me?" I felt the rest of them focus this gaze upon me and I felt uncomfortable. "I don't have a clue who this chick is!"
I thought the Character Queen knows EVERYthing." Joker taunted.
My brows crinkled. "Push off, I don't know EVERYthing. I know a lot, but I'm only one me."
"How disappointing." "Rest assured, though, if I don't know, I find out. I research. I learn. I pride myself on that." I went back to work.

Master took a few sips of his drink before slouching in his chair, and nudged his head curiously at my laptop, "What are you doing?" I flexed my brows as I typed away, busily, Jim taking the opportunity to lean in and peek at the screen.
"Trying to find villains with electrical abilities to pinpoint who that annoying cow is."
"Ok, then what?" "Well then, I'll know WHO she is, WHAT she is, and HOW to stop her."
"How to stop her?" "It's a known fact, my dear boys, all o' y'all have a weakness. The very string the hero tugs to defeat you. I know your pasts, your presents, and your futures. I know what hurts you and what heals you. What weakens and what strengthens you. I've seen from the heroes' perspective and from YOUR perspective. If anyone should be afraid of anyone in this ongoing venture, it's of me."

The four men sat in silence, reflecting on what I said, until Joker found something snarky enough to say. "Well horror icons get away with things." "Yeah, the heroes don't win there."
"That's because 9 times out of 10, the 'hero' is a complete idiot who does all the wrong things and practically hands the villain their victory." Joker glanced up to think about this, then shrugged with a nod cuz where was the lie. "I might also note that most of the 'innocent victims' in horror movies are rather unlikable worthless individuals who deserve to die. Mostly teenagers..I feel the pain of the antagonist, I wanna kill them, too."
"....Right..." I peeked at the clown. "One of the reasons why I can only laugh at horror movies. Any sensible person with a functional brain in their heads would be able to get out of those situations, such as nOT HITTING AND RUNNING." "I KNOW!! They always just swing a punch or hit with a weapon once, then run away!" "IT DRIVES ME NUTS, LIKE, BRUH, IF YOU ATTACK ME, I WILL GUT YOU UNTIL DEATH." "Oh wow, that's dark." "I'm dark."
I went back to work. "...you underestimate how freaking psycho I really am.." "..indeed.."

Our party sat in silence for a few long, awkward moments, while I typed and scrolled on, biting my lip at the lack of success thus far. There isn't exactly a site that categorizes all the villains/heroes based on similar abilities or character traits. Even though there should be..therefore, I had to find the information myself. The sites were taking too long to go through, so the next option was to search through the image results.
I scanned each row of pics carefully to identify any familiar faces.
And just like that..I found her.
A villainess with crazy spiky bluish white hair, glowing eyes and pale skin that gave me a run for my money. My jaw dropped. "..I found her."
The boys all perked at once. I quickly clicked her photo to enlarge it and read the caption to reveal her name. "Livewire." "Livewire??"
Copy, paste, search, tap the wiki page.

"Livewire..formerly known as Leslie Willis..a radio personality dedicated to publicly bashing Superman..she first appeared on the animated Superman show..her powers came about when she climbed atop a stage to protest, but was struck by lightning..and thus, acquired electrical abilities..which changed her appearance and altered her sanity..hm, I would expect." "So she's a DC villain, eh? In a Marvel world?"
"So it would seem.. that only means that their reach is expanding..they're finding people I haven't even heard of yet. This is ridiculous." "Better step up your game, Demens, they're putting you out've business."
I viciously scowled at Joker, before burying my head back behind the screen.
"I refuse.."
Joker chuckled.
"..c'mon, c'mon, tell me her weakness..aha! Right.." "Right what??"
"Superman defeated her by dowsing her with a hulking percentage of water.."
I sat back and thought of this. They leaned in, staring at me with eyes hungry for more.
 "Yes?? And??"
".......Electro was defeated by blasting him with a continuous amount of electricity that eventually fried his circuits and caused him to explode. No matter how much electricity an electrical foe can produce, they're bound to have limits with how much raw power they can take, right?" "Right."

I rubbed my chin.
"They're not immortal..they can only take so much..dowsing her isn't enough to kill her, but, combined with intense levels of electricity..a concentrated dose of both..maybe it'll be enough to roast her." "A very deadly combination. I don't see why it wouldn't be enough to dispose of her." "And that's if she doesn't give me a choice. Just like with anyone, I'm giving her and Loki a chance to redeem themselves. I doubt they'll take it now..which is why I'm hoping it won't come down to killing them.." "That's noble, but didn't they almost kill you?"
"Yes, they did, but I don't care what happens to me. It's with anyone else that I'd hold a grudge..say..if they hurt you four..or anyone else here..then there's gonna be held to pay."
"Well then." "But like, I actually feel so much better finally having a chick enemy now. All these dudes, I was beginning to feel sexist, and I'm the furthest thing."
"Well hopefully you'll get the chance to pummel her soon enough."
"Darn skippy." "Sarah?" I jumped in my seat and swung my head around, as did the boys, at none other than Gwen Stacy.

"Gwen!"
She smiled faintly, looking much better than before and honestly wielding a brighter and more hopeful air that was refreshing considering our situation.
"You working or did you come all the way here just to find us?"
"A little bit of both..I did what you said and.."
She turned her head and waved to someone.
A someone who was sitting at another table, clutching onto his work bag with both arms, who then hurriedly got up and shuffled over to us. I gawked.
"I found Max Dillon."
He smiled innocently and nodded at us. I shot up, grinning ear to ear.
"Max! Pleasure to meet you!! Sarah Demens!"

A seemingly average looking fellow with black hair, chocolatey brown skin, glasses and rather dull unnoticeable clothing. He has a very timid personality, which makes his character all the more tragic, the poor dear. I shot up and eagerly shook his hand.
He nodded, graciously. "Hi, Miss Demens, pleasure to meet you, too!"
I nudged my head at the others,
"That there behind me's Master, Bane, Joker and Moriarty, my traveling companions."
My inner love for innocence melted as Max waved in an honored fashion at the boys, who sarcastically waved back and he didn't even realize. He was so pure, I wanted to cry.
"So Max..how much has Gwen told you??" I folded my arms, awaiting an answer.
His expression dulled and he glanced over at Gwen, who smiled at him warmly and pat his shoulder, urging him to go on. "Well..she told me that since Spider-Man's gone missing, you five are going to go look for him..but the city's in danger and you need to save it."
I nodded. "Right..did she tell you about..your role in this?"
He swallowed. "Um..no..w..why do you need me?"
I took a deep breath and nudged my head for him to follow as I moved back to the table, took him by the shoulders, and seated him in my chair. He looked back up at me with tremendous confusion and reluctance and I knew I had to be careful what I told him without outright telling him, "hey dude, you're a character, har har.."

I cupped my hands together and curled my lips back, staring down at him with all the sincerity. "...I happen to know, Max..there's a side to you that..in a certain circumstance, gets unlocked and takes over, turning you into something that, well..isn't the nicest of fellows..I'm here to prevent that from happening..to stop two individuals who are trying to change you and Mr. Harry Osborn into monsters."
Max's face dropped and turned into one of surprise and sadness.
"Me??....I'm don't understand..why?"
"Because they, themselves, are monsters. And they wanna destroy everyone in this city. They want you two to join them. And I can't let that happen."
He frowned and swallowed. "Alright..if you say so..w..what do I do?"
I took a deep breath and stood up straight.
"..for now? Just stay close to us, and Gwen, and don't be alone. You're safe as long as you're not alone." He agreed to this silently, shifting uncomfortably.
"It's gonna be your birthday soon, right?"
His face at once lit up and he smiled excitedly. "Yeah!"
I smirked, "Well, I'm sure you and the lovely Gwen don't have much of anything happening tonight..why don't you two accompany us for some partyin'?"
"Partying??" Gwen questioned, alertly.
"Yeah, in Harry's office. It's gonna have soda and cool music and the best part, pizza." "Harry's office?!" "I said, PIZZA." "A party is happening at Mr. Osborn's office?!"
 I sighed. "Yep."
"It is?" "It is." I cut my eyes at the boys, who soon got the message.

I smiled back at Max, "You deserve a little fun, friend. Whatta ya say?"
He tensed. "You're inviting me to a party????"
I nodded.
He shot up so quickly and hugged me so tightly, I almost died.
"Thank you, thank you, THANK you, Miss Demens!"
"P-Please!!" I heaved. "Call me Sarah!!"
He let go and frantically shook my hand, "Sarah, Sarah, thank you Sarah!"
I grinned as he grinned and pat his shoulder.
"No sweat, bro. Now you two just be here by 7/7:30, savvy?" I turned my head to Gwen and she nodded eagerly, obviously excited herself to join in on the fun. I winked and clicked my tongue at the two, urging them back to work. "See ya lovelies!"
They bid me farewell as I sat back down and breathed a sigh of relief.
"Well..this is going well so far.." I slurped my milkshake. "One step ahead of us my ponytail." "We're staying with Harry tonight, since when?" "Since now."
"She's an attractive one, that Gwen Stacy.." "ARE YOU GONNA DO THIS WITH EVERY CHICK WE MEET?" "IS THAT EVEN A QUESTION?" "No stop it, what are we doing?!"
"Ugh, look, Harry knows he needs us, so he's not gonna turn us away. He and Felicia need a little break just as much as Max and Gwen. Have a little fun, chill, not grieve and get angry at everything. Harry losing his father, Max being ignored by everyone and has his entire life changed on his birthday..I want them to be happy and see there's so much to gain by being good..that there's people who love them.." "Miss Demens?"

I bent my head back to see an upside down Felicia. She blinked at me.
"Hai." "..Hello..Mr. Osborn wants you back in his office." "It's about time-- is it good news or bad news?" "Oh, um..it's good, I suppose." "Say no more, we'll be right there."
~
And be right there we were. We rushed to Harry's office as quickly as our legs could take us, me swinging the office doors open like I owned them, and flashed my arms presentedly at Osborn, who spun his chair in unison with my arrival.
"Harry, dear boy, I trust you made the right decision!"
He then arose, clearing his throat, and nodded in agreement as he walked around the desk.
"You're right, I did...I do need your help. Something didn't sit right with those two and I feel like..I don't know..you're my best option of defense."
I smirked. "Indeed, we are."
I snapped my fingers of both hands as I approached the table.
"And ya know, I've come up with a rather enjoyable way that ensures we're around to protect you." "And uh..what's that?"
I bent down, laying both hands on the table and grinned.
"Slumber party."
