A quick glance at the time told me that I hadn't been out for long.
It was only 1:45 in the morning..I was still exhausted, but I had revelations and a hunger for answers and I couldn't stay in that room even if I was aiming for sleep.
I dragged my sleep-deprived, grumbling self downstairs and through the lobby, giving the visible entrance, guarded by Bane, a dirty look as I passed due to what I was sure was waiting outside the door. Especially directing my attention at the so-called barrier, mentally complaining over its so-called skills. Fat lotta good you were
I arrived at the T.A.R.D.I.S. doorstep for a brief second, before grabbing the knob, not even bothering to knock, and threw open the door via a violent entrance, letting it slam against the metal wall.
Naturally, I grabbed the three's attention upon entry, catching them off-guard.
They all jumped, even Joker, who was lounging carelessly on the couch, with Master and Jim apparently snacking at the control console. All eyes were on me, especially with me proceeding on my way to the nearest chair, a blanket wrapped around me upto my nose; like Dracula and his dastardly cape. At this stage of the game, I practically am an undead creature of the night; tired, cranky, 'fraid of the sun, living too long, and desperate to feast on something.
Take away the bloodlust and fangs and I'm not unlike a vampire.
"Demens!" Master exclaimed, shooting up from his stool.
"What are you doing here?!"
"What happened?" Jim questioned, quickly licking his fingers of chocolatey substance.
"Eh." I commented, collapsing into the chair, curling into a grumpy little ball of boiling conspiracy.
"I thought you were sleeping in the hotel room tonight." J observed, obviously dissatisfied that he hadn't truly gotten rid of me.
"Too crowded." I bluntly answered with a shift of my legs.
They all exchanged strange glances. "Okayyyyyy." Master hesitated, coming a little closer while simultaneously cutting his eyes between me and Jim.
"Tell us about that...who was with you?"
I closed one eye, rattling my head negatively. "Meh."
"Meh?"
"Meh."
"Meh it is." He nodded, glancing at the others. "There you have it."
He sat down on a stool and took hold of his drink, gesturing at me with an open hand.
"She was with Meh."
Jim gave Master a suspicious glare before looking back at me.
He stood suddenly, giving the monitor behind him a quick look before approaching me in a creepy manner. "So...." He began, coming only a few feet from me.
I looked up at his face. I almost wanted to laugh at the almost adorable level of seriousness in his expression, cuz I knew exactly what that look was. Jealousy.
And given the boys were monitoring the hallways the whole time, I knew why.
"What was your business in that man child's room?"
Man child.
He was one to talk.
One eye remained closed as I gave him another look. "'Xcuse me?"
"That idiot! We saw you enter his room not long after everyone went to sleep. What were you upto?" He leaned in. "Were you making moves on him?"
"Getting frisky first moment you're alone with 'im now, are you?"
Master grinned, mischievously.
My mouth dropped as I gave them a look I only gave them when they were being complete and total imbeciles. "NOW SEE HERE, I'LL HAVE YOU KNOW-"
"Oh, it's perfectly understandable, Demens..he's a handsome young bloke, you two obviously hit it off, we don't blame you for-" "Oh grow up, you three disgust me. I was in there for a grand total of ten minutes, fact check yourselves. We were just TALKING."
"Talking that led to smooching, no doubt."
"Literally can not describe in words the ways in which I want to kill you three."
"Sarah Demens, you're a young lass--don't make these kinds of mistakes. If you want to relieve pent up impulses--" Jim took hold of my hand and held it close to his heart, giving me a look of deep sincerity. "-I'm HERE for you."
I quickly zipped my hand out of his grasp and darted my rolling eyes away.
"I'm not even bothering, it's like trying to explain reason to a rain-gazing turkey."
"..A...rain-gazing..turkey?" Master closed his eyes, trying to envision this.
Joker shook his head. "I don't know about you, but I feel insulted."
"But a rain-gazing turkey?" Master questioned the clown. J shrugged his shoulders.
"You tea-sippers wouldn't understand."
"Well I'd expect nothing less from a tea-tosser!"
"Boys, seriously- J, he's an alien, he doesn't even count as a tea-sipper! Neither does Lucky Charms, cuz he's from Ireland, he guards the rainbows!"
Both Master and Jim gave me looks of dismay.
"You're a cruel woman, Demens."
I brushed this aside and leaned in. "I know what they're planning to use the kids for."
The boys eyes' widened at this, but soon turned to the door, which made me look too.
I perked at what I saw, "Gavin?!"
There stood Mystery Boy, looking at me with the utmost concern. He looked more or less as sleep-deprived as I was, with reddened eyes and a sluggish posture trying to straighten itself up. Regardless, he was still handsome as he was any other time and still had that same gosh dang effect on my heart that I got every time I saw him.
But Joker naturally ruined everything when he now decided to stand from the couch and approach me. "Aw, look at them..on a first name basis. True love in the making, folks."
He leaned in towards Jim, "They might be married by the journey's end.""
Jim looked at him with narrowed, suspicious eyes.
Despite their immature and poorly thought out comments which I assuredly would whoop them for in the near future, I shot up and shuffled towards Gavin hurriedly.
"What are you doing here, I thought you were sleeping!"
Gavin walked inside the room, staring worriedly at me with big sorrowful eyes like a concerned puppy. I felt so bad for him, I almost hugged him.
"I wanted to make sure you were alright."
I crinkled my brows, jerking my head back. "Really?...uhhh...yeah...why??"
"Well, I heard you shouting upstairs and-"
"Wait wait wait...you heard me shouting?"
He slowly nodded. "And when I went to check on you, you weren't in your room."
I blinked. "Yeah, I bailed pretty fast--shouting what?"
He gently shook his head as his eyes fell to the floor. "Things like...'where are you'..'no'..'stop it'.."
I felt the boys' eyes return to me with seriously obnoxious curiosity.
My muscles tightened.
"What else did you hear?"
"There was pounding..and thuds..almost like you were fighting with someone."
I lost the ability to breathe.
What if....it wasn't a dream, after all?
"A---are you positive, Gavin?"
He stared at me with deep worry, almost heartbroken now that he had to tell me this.
I sunk and took shaky breaths. "Crap....."
"Anything you want to share, Demens?" Master sassed.
I swallowed and fell back into my chair.
Gavin's eyes fell back to the floor and he slowly went to sit down in a chair near mine.
"..There's something I should mention..something that happened not long after I got here.."
He laced his fingers together and took a deep, collected breath as he leaned back.
"..There was a few people who ran out of their houses and stores, who were screaming hysterically. Screaming things not unlike what you were saying..chief among them being that.. 'they' were inside their heads..." He ran his hand through his smooth black hair.
"That was nearly a week ago. I haven't seen those people since.."
He breathed. "In fact, I've been seeing less and less people as time has went on..it's like they're just..vanishing out of thin air.."
I zoned out staring ahead of me, fingers dancing across my lips.
"......That's it...."
Realization hit me when suddenly all throughout the hotel came chilling screams and thunderous footsteps blaring through the air. We all jolted and shot our eyes up towards the stairs.
I scurried toward the door. "They don't need to get inside the building--"
I grabbed onto the edge of the door, looking up towards the ceiling.
"..They can get inside our heads."
I swung around. "Physically, they did nothing. But they still played out a scene in our minds, which causes people to act out what we're seeing subconsciously; thus why you hear us shouting things as if they're really there and attacking us, almost like we're sleepwalking. It's a fear tactic at its finest. Also makes it look like we're losing our minds."
"But I didn't get a nightmare." Gavin expressed with shock.
I crinkled my brow at him. "Lucky you."
My attention turned to the others, before letting out an 'Oooh!' and pointing my finger back at Gavin. "They didn't need to get inside your head cuz you're not their mark...the rest of us are. They brought along Mulder, Scully and the kids and are attacking the people of Coolsville, cuz they need them all; they're their marks. They need me cuz, well, they do, but you..they have no business with you..there's no reason to get inside the head of someone they've no purpose for....guaranteed that trap earlier that the sewer goblin was springing..you weren't the intended target..it was for me.."
Master abruptly charged towards me, "What do you mean he can get inside your head? What the *beep* kind of power does he have?!"
Gavin leaned against the chair once more as he laid his head back and stared at the ceiling in a haunted trance. "He plays with your fears..it's what powers him. He needs you to be afraid. He feeds on your fear. Literally."
Master turned to him with an untrusting expression, hand on his hip.
"And you know who he is?"
"We both do." I answered. Gavin's eyes drifted to mine.
I nodded, straightening up.
"It's what we were discussing in his room when you thought I was-- 'being frisky'."
"And who is he?" Master questioned.
My spine experienced major shivers from the mere thought of it.
"..Pennywise."
Joker almost leaped out of his skin. "ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME?"
He swung around, stomping back to the couch. "No, no, we're out. Let's go."
We all ignored him, with Master shrugging his shoulders. "Who's Pennywise??"
Even Jim was cringing, "You bloody galactic immigrants aren't familiar with the clown, are you?"
"So I don't pay attention to all of Earth's idiotic pop culture--that's what Demens is for! Now who is he?"
I sighed, sitting back down. "Ok, now horror ain't really my forte, ya feel me? So I don't know every single detail about the junk that comes out of it..the farthest I go is the classic monster stuff, like vampires, werewolves, mummies, that sorta good stuff--but this particular junk, I really don't bother with mostly cuz most of it is over the top and laughable, but that being said..I still try to know the gist of it, to know what I'm dealing with. Pennywise happens to be one of those characters...during my recent research, I saw that the old movie he's from was remade in the not so distant future and I checked up on it and that's how I knew it was him. He's revamped and even creepier than his previous version, but he follows the same pattern and is no less harder to understand. So I'll tell you what I know.." "I am no longer comfortable with this vacation!" Joker loudly proclaimed.
"Well that's the risk of the venturing, J--sometimes we'll run into peeps we really don't wanna run into.." My head bowed and I swallowed, taking a deep breath.
"But he's a character, nonetheless..a dangerous threat to our plans..we have no choice. We gotta beat him. Here and now." I cleared my throat, turning my attention back to Master.
"Basically Pennywise is a psycho creature that feeds on fear and solely targets those that are weaker and..easier..to acquire. The most fearful of people..."
Master lowered his chin. "...Oh.....that's a..very rude bloke."
I nodded. "..He's more animal than anything. In fact, he's a shapeshifter, so he'll transform into literally anything that he senses will control you emotionally or to effectively lure you into a trap."
"Okay, so..what does this have to do with your room??"
"RIGHT, that, well..basically, I was hearing his voice in my head all night..even before I passed out. He was talking, taunting me..trying to get under my skin..using tactics that a horror villain knows will get most people to panic and lose their minds.." "Lucky you, you already lost your's."
I rose my brows. "..So, he lured me into the bathroom--making my walkie talkie disappear, locking the door--and that's when he showed up in the mirror..and made kids crawl out of my tub to come after me..he knows..he knows what's gonna get to me..and that's the kids. It's a very clever goblin."
"It??" "Yes, it." "You just said it." "YEAH, it." "Why it?" "Cuz it's an it!"
"All this time, you were describing it as a bloke!"
"Oh, Master, honey.. I think you're old enough for this talk now-- see, notice I said 'shapeshifter'-- now the term 'shapeshifter' implies that its gender can be either/or, meaning it can be man AND woman, or whatever the heck else it wants to be."
His eyes rolled at my sarcasm.
"..Yeah, its gender is kind've undetermined...actually, I think it might have been pregnant once..."
I made a half-disgusted face, briefly enlarging my eyes.
"Could be an evil spawning of darkness made from villainy and vile intentions."
"Literally how I think you were conceived, Jimbo, that's ironic."
Jim half-smirked, looking away.
I glanced up at the ceiling.
"Also how I think Bowser had Bowser Jr., cuz..seriously, who was the mom?"
I focused back on Master.
"Anyway. Point is..he mostly appears as a dude, yeah, but his actual form is a..creepy..nasty..spider. Not the kind I'm a fan of."
"I really don't wanna deal with this sort." J expressed uncomfortably on the couch.
"Literally, J, man up. There are starving children in Canada who are tougher than you."
Master shook his head, facepalming. That's when he perked, "Wait a minute, IT! I know that movie!"
"Took you long enough." He ignored J's remark. "..Cripes, we have to deal with that little beast..I'm with Joker, this is bloody ridiculous!"
"Well, he was outsmarted by children and defeated with name-calling, which signifies we're just the crazies for the job, so I'm sure we'll pull through."
Joker shrugged his shoulders uneasily and waved his hand impatiently, sighing in frustration.
"You said you knew what those kids were being used for?"
I snapped my fingers, "YES. Thank you, J..I do indeed now know what the plan is."
I maneuvered around Master. "..In the dream he placed in my head--well, hallucination at this point..I saw the children come out of the tub. I don't imagine he'd show me children that stem from nothing, so he no doubt showed me the ones the lot has taken. Now, he did that to make me afraid, make me panic. But all he did in the process was make a mistake. Cuz he only wound up showing me what they're really up to. The whole attack was actually the answer we needed. The kids looked like, well..monsters..like they were transforming into something else."
The boys gazed at me in surprise.
"Monsters??" Master questioned, rubbing his scraggly chin.
"Why would they transform the kids??" J wondered. "Even to a guy like me, that's sick."
"Why indeed.." Gavin cut in. "..And what's more concerning, this isn't his plan, clearly. They brought him in. It's their plan."
"He's just their wild card, then." J realized.
I scrunched up my face, cutting my eyes at him, "It's always the clown, isn't it.."
He smirked with absolute no shame.
I advanced toward him in a quick sprint,
"Ya think you can reason with him? Clown to clown? Get 'im off our backs?"
Joker rolled his eyes to me, licking his scars.
"I'm not in the business of dealing with shapeshifting monster clowns, sorry."
"Why not, you are one."
Joker darted his gaze on Jim, giving him such a look.
"What was that, Irish Spring?!"
I waved my hand impatiently at the Irishman, without taking my eyes off J.
"He means you have beautiful eyes."
Joker narrowed his 'beautiful' eyes.
As if attacking Joker wasn't enough, the tiny goblin had to come behind me and whisper into my ear.
"So why don't you like horror movies, Sarie? Make you too scared?"
I dashed my enormous currently green eyes at him. "I f e a r n o t h i n g."
That was cool in theory, but I immediately had to clarify.
"Okay, there's two things..." Jim sucked in his breath in anticipation.
I turned my whole head at him, my face inches from his. My eyes glazed.
"Prissy girls and the color pink."
J, Master and Gavin held back laughter as they knew I was serious.
Jim held his chin in deep thought of this revelation.
"This explains everything about you, Demens." J noted. "You were a goth kid, weren't you? Jealous of the popular girls?" "Actually, I was a pretty popular outcast and surprisingly not a goth...but yeah, detested prissy girls. Insulted and pulled pranks on them all the time." I smiled in sweet victory. "What a time to be alive...the things I got away with as a child.."
"I mean, I got away with murder, but...this isn't a competition.."
I gave Jim a look.
He suddenly cast me a glare. "I thought you said you loved..ALL the movies?"
I gave him another look.
"LISTEN HERE, 'CHAUN, YOU HOLD UP NOW. Are you calling me out on my Queenship?!"
"I think he's calling you out on your Queenship." Master responded, deviously.
Jim's eyes rolled to the ceiling.
I narrowed my eyes.
"I never said I was into EVERY fandom. There's quite a few that I ain't a fan of..especially YA novels. Which will not be named..yes, I ain't into horror, but I read up on them cuz I pride myself on my knowledge and that knowledge in fact stretches far and wide, so ya know what, Jim?"
I curled my lips back, nodding. "You can just choke on a lemon seed."
"PLEASE choke on a lemon seed." Joker humorously encouraged.
Jim's eyes squinted, "Well, I'm in luck.."
He leaned in close. "..I don't eat lemon seeds."
Me giving him wide eyes and duck lips, topped with Jim's facial lemon defiance made Joker crack up in the background.
"So about those missing kids.." Master broke in, unexpectedly. I gave him a look.
"You're starting to sound rather heroic, dear boy. Careful with that."
He averted his eyes and tried to change the subject.
"Sooner we get this done, the sooner we can leave."
"Mmhmmm, sure."
He flashed me a look of irritation and anger.
I approached him, "I think it's rather evident, boys..I've become a little darker with you around..you've become a little better with me around..we're the middle of the road now. Best of both worlds." "I still hate you so much." J muttered. I smirked, deviously.
"She-devil." Jim name-called, looking away in a hurt manner.
I broke my attention away from the boys to Gavin, smirking wickedly all the while.
He smirked back.
The words 'you're terrible' were written all over his face. Indeed, I love tormenting those three. ;)
Master crossed his arms, "So they're taking kids in order to transform them into monsters..why? Why go through all that nonsense just for a lot of little brats?"
I suddenly got serious, lifting my head up to gaze at the others.
"..Kids are easily influenced..controlled more than adults. Evil is always after us when we're young and innocent. You lot should know that better than anyone."
They looked away, but they knew I was right. After all, the boys began their lives as villains when they were but small children.
I bowed my head as I leaned against the control panel, staring at the monitor.
"I haven't..been entirely open with you guys about who I am and what I've been through...but...evil did get me once. When I was too stupid to fight back. I was young, but I knew full well what I was doing." My eyes gravitated to the boys.
"But something happened that evil didn't expect..I came back. And I fought hard. Becoming better than who I turned into, burying the darkness that crept inside of me. Every negative aspect of what I became I turned around. And it underestimates me. Always has. Underestimates who I really am and what I can really do. It thinks since I sided with good that I'm soft and frail and easily screwed with. When it only doomed itself. It made me stronger, darker..and so damaged, I'm lethal. Made me so determined to protect and save others from its grasp, I'm willing to do things no other hero has the stomach for."
I tightened my muscles, straightening up. I was experiencing an anger, a fire boiling inside that began the second I thought of them holding those kids..and them crying to get back to their families, scared out of their minds. I got even angrier, knowing that those little horror fleas took me for a simple petty traveler, too scared to cross them. "If it's a fight they want, they're gonna get it. If it's a monster they need, I'll be happy to provide. They want me to make a move, here comes my biggest yet. Cuz evil's made its mark on me--" I clenched my fists, gritting my teeth.
To the boys' surprise, I suddenly made for the door. "-And it won't like what it's turned me into."
. . . .
I stomped out of the T.A.R.D.I.S. into the lobby, where Bud was snoring at his desk and Bane was watching me from the entrance, where I came storming his way, fists clenches, eyes full of a raging fire. I peered into the darkness on the other side of the barrier, Bane stepping aside as I positioned myself at the door. "I know you're there!" I exclaimed.
The others rushed out of the ship, running my way, with Master widened his eyes in an alarmed manner. "Demens, what are you doing?!"
I threw my arms up, scanning infront of me as I beckoned for something to come out.
"C'mon! Quit hiding! Show me where you are!"
As Master was about to jump in and pull me away from my insane attempt at gaining an interview with the local psychos, shadows abruptly passed on the ground, figures beginning to step out of the darkness..and front and center, mere feet from where I was, now stood Pennywise himself.
He was tall, standing over 6 feet, dressed in unsettling renaissance styled clown clothes, his crazy hair a tomato red, his face white as a sheet of paper--his teeth, which he revealed in a wickedly horrific grin, were black and rotting, jagged like a shark's. And his half shut dark eyes honed in on me with absolute deadly intentions. The most intriguing part of Pennywise was despite his human appearance, he very much wasn't human at all. There was still something animalistic and well, rather childish about him. He really wasn't a villain like Joker or Master or Loki or Darth Vader.
He wasn't out for materialistic needs or world domination.
He had a pattern, he lured in his prey, he drew on their weaknesses and consumed their fear to sustain his life. His behavior was much like a spider. He wasn't the typical psychopath you'd find in the long line of popular villains, because he did not share their most common ideals.
He was an animal with a set routine.
..So why was he so interested in me?

The others froze when they saw him as if under a sudden trance, Master retracting his arm.
I heard many of my companions swallow in the still air, but I did not budge. I didn't jolt or show any facial expression that indicated fear. If anything, I looked freaking ticked.
Like I was about ready to attack.
That's when Pennywise tilted his head after a good long stare at me and his dark eyes sparkled in the poor light. "Not so sound-proof after all, I see...."
His voice...there was a high pitch present among the scratchy and peculiar tone he spoke in..that went up and down, falling in a throaty deepness that sounded almost like a growl.
Truly did sound like an animal trying to be something more...
He smiled a little and suddenly wagged his hand in a motion that suggested I should come forth.
"Come on out, Sarah.......come and play with me."
He jiggled his head a little, giving an unsettling laugh. "W-we can be friends!"
He tensed his muscles, hunching over a little. "Don't you wanna be friends?!"
My brow flexed, giving him a death stare.
He straightened up a bit. "Sorry 'bout before...had to give ya the message somehow!"
I knew exactly what the message was. The thing he repeated to me a thousand times in the bathroom.
..That I was a monster like them.
Good god....he really was trying to get me to join them.
But I wasn't giving in to his crap. Not anymore.
I stepped even closer, if that were possible, lifting my chin up..feeling an energy pulsing through me that I never thought I'd be able to sustain confronting such beasts.
I felt like..I could do anything....
"You wanna play this game? Fine. But you won't like the end result. Because you lot? You have NO idea who you're screwing with, darlings." I tilted my head as he looked gradually frozen, unable to cope with my reaction that he no doubt never expected me to have.
"I mean, seriously? Getting inside our heads? Getting inside MY head? What'd ya think you were gonna find in there? Unicorns and sparkly cupcakes? Well you know who I am now. I have seen crap you would never begin to fathom. Suffered in ways I never thought I'd survive. I have more issues that'd put a world of mental patients to shame. And ya know what's scary? Not that I am still able to live with it all and go against the nature it calls upon...it's the fact that I LOVE being so messed up..and I LOVE the power that it gives me. And people always underestimate me..and what I'm capable of. You thought you could intimidate me..get in my head and scare me like all those before me. Well you're at a loss. I overcame fear's reign a long time ago..when I was just a six year old little kid. And you people haven't fazed me since."
The looks that he and the others around him were giving were quite simply hilarious..as none of them knew what to do or say.
"I know you're just as scared as your victims. I know you're all just a bunch of fear munchers who prey on kids cuz you're too wuss to take on anyone stronger. You wanna feel power, so you pick on the weak. Control them with their faults and vulnerabilities. You're no different from any other bully. You just got sharp claws and pointy teeth. But I see right through you. So cut that whole cocky psycho monster crap. You lot messing with me is about the dumbest thing you could ever do. You didn't just come at me..you came at the Character Queen. I KNOW you. I know how to beat you, how to hurt you, how to make you feel INFERIOR. I know your past, your present, and your very bleak little futures. So you listen, you putrid little parasite. Your power WON'T work on me. Cuz see, Cataclysm's shaken up about me..I've made them desperate. Desperate enough that they were forced to send in the clowns."
I cocked my head the other way, as I felt myself swell with a dark and sinister nature.
"You've seen how I am. Your bosses know what I'm capable of. And if I am invested in something, if I am aiming to protect or save whatever it is that I care about, I will go as far as it takes. With little to no damage from the consequences. So....you better get your rest. Cuz by tomorrow night..if you so much as lay a single finger on those kids?" I lowered my chin. "..I'm taking your heads."
Pennywise's eyes glistened, the other monsters glancing over at him.
He dared not say a word. He was too stunned for that.
I slightly started to crack a smile. "And you were wrong, by the way.....I'm not a monster like you.."
I then took the last step forward and pressed my hands against the barrier, my smile turning into a wicked grin. "...I'm worse."
The fiends were not able to break eye contact. Until I slowly turned, giving them one last glare, with zero percent fear or care in my expression. "Sweet dreams."
I walked away from the entrance, the boys trailing behind me.
Bane watched the monsters on the other side, who had now unsurprisingly fled the scene.
He soon joined in, too, as the five of us huddled into a small group, Gavin standing in front of Bud...who was still sleeping in the background.
I crossed my arms, taking a deep and relaxed breath as I stared ahead, contemplating on my next move, my mind reeling with a million different thoughts.
"..That was so hot.." Jim whispered. To which we all gave him a judgmental glare.
He glared back, wagging his brows at me. "Impressive work, darling."
"Ya think so?" I said with now innocent eyes and a cheery demeanor as if a grown up were complimenting me on my pretty painting.
"Oh, you have them on the ropes." Joker pressed, rubbing the back of his head as he stared at the previous location of the now departed fiends. There was a tone in his voice that seemed to say,
'Oh you did a good job alright and now we're in deep flabberdoodle'...
Totally paraphrasing with that last part, of course.
"You're like the psychiatrist from our own version of hell."
"How marvelous. I'm flattered."
"This ain't a game, kid!" J exclaimed, obviously boiling himself up. But Master cut in.
"That was a gutsy display of bravado, Demens, and I applaud you for refraining from backing down and of your meticulous bluffing skills--but might I remind you you just *beep*ed off homicidal monsters and decimated your own chances of rescuing your precious children?"
"Ah, but you see, Master, I only just asserted my dominance in this particular situation. They thought they knew me and they were wrong. They know to take me seriously now..if I was the usual type to cross their path that was obviously scared of them, especially after the encounter I had upstairs, I'd be too afraid to even look in their direction. I'd stay away from the very idea of confronting them, to avoid upsetting them into making a move and therefore disposing the children to make a point...they're not gonna do that. I literally just threatened a bunch of supernatural murderous maniacs to take their heads if they so much as touch them. Pennywise will especially back down because that is what he does when his control through fear is non-existent. He gets confused and stressed and worried and his power diminishes. That's all these guys are is a bunch of fear junkies. That's why they're not man enough to take on anyone other than kids."
Master pointed a finger at him. "You are BLUFFING!"
"BLUFFING? You seriously think I'm BLUFFING?!"
My eyes rolled to the ceiling. "EXCUSE ME, let's see, I freaking stabbed Azog in the back, blew up an unkillable assassin, also blew up Livewire, pointed a gun right at Menkin's stupid little head and caused him to back off from Harry, and proved myself effective and completely devoid of hesitance when doing whatever I absolutely have to when the time calls for it. I'm not scared to do what I have to. I give my enemies one warning and if they don't follow it, that's their problem."
My gaze grew harsher upon Master. "Cataclysm has SEEN that. I keep getting worse and that is something they are not willing to take a chance with. Smaug was ordered to take me dead or alive. Loki tried to kill me. Now they're aiming to invite me into their little club and use me. Why do you think that is? So if I threaten to obliterate them if they touch someone I care about, then I think they trust that I mean it. Look who they sent..they're desperate."
Master swung his head away, zipping his lip. Jim made duck lips as he stared down at the floor.
But Joker wasn't finished. No. He dashed in front of me and pointed angrily at the entrance, hovering over me like a dark cloud that I merely lowered my brows up to.
"Do you realize what you've done, you little idiot?! You just threatened members of their party that, heh, never thought I'd say this--ARE CRAZIER THAN WE ARE!"
He was waving his arms around like a distressed turkey.
"Those kids are as good as dead!!"
I broke into hysterical laughter, which made J gape and stare down at me with extreme concern.
I couldn't see clearly from the water forming in my eyes from all the laughter.
"CRAZY---CRAZIER THAN US?! Have you SEEN us?!"
I shook my head, still crossing my arms and laughing like a seal on helium.
"NO ONE, no one in this WHOLE UNIVERSE, is crazier than US! Literally, I'm a young innocent chick who's knowingly room mates with four grown complete psychopaths..and you lot are tagging along and helping me save the universe on the way to kill your sworn enemies! PLEASE! Everyone else can get in line! Top-"
I swung around in the entrance's direction and hunched over to scream at the thus vanished fiends.
"-THAT!"
Joker grabbed his own face in bitter despair.
"We're all gonna die!"
Master narrowed his eyes, "She does have a point, we are the most mentally unstable ones out there..everything about us is just..wrong. Just wrong....."
I spun back around, lifting my hands up, ignoring Master.
"I've never seen you so antsy, J! This is quite unlike you."
I approached him. "All paranoid and worry-stricken...what happened to the bazooka-shooting badtail who didn't have a care in the world? Who didn't have a plan, just cause as much chaos as possible..who laughed when he was being brutally assaulted? Who skipped and hummed while wielding a knife- who didn't skip a beat to literally give a man the option to shoot you point black in the head?" Joker seemed surprised that I was saying all this and he straightened up with a taken back expression. Master and Jim themselves were surprised and looked to him, as if impressed.
"You did all that?" Master marveled. J seemed to almost blush through his white makeup.
Jim pointed at me accusingly.
"You! You sound almost like you're praising him! You hate him and now you love him?!"
"Bruh, come on now. I ain't no fool. Golly, you'd have to be a fool not to at least be a little impressed with the Joker's work. This is why he's one of my favorite villains! He's smart and freaking unpredictable--seriously self-assured and calculated, always one step ahead--that kinda villain deserves all the respect! AND he didn't DIE! Unlike you lot! Simply incarcerated..cuz he had the good sense to survive after all that time. You guys wind up passing on and what not..J rocks!"
"He drives you BONKERS!""
"So?! Yeah, the guy drives me nuts--heck, you ALL drive me out of my mind! But hey, that's what brothers do."
I stood and smirked deviously at each of the boys as they seemed to gawk in shock at my ending comment. They began looking in different directions to avoid eye contact.
I cut my eyes at Gavin mischievously as he grinned at my statement.
I turned my head to Bane and began to approach him. "Bane, my boy!"
Smirking, I let out my fist for a bump.
"Ya with me?"
Bane glanced down at it. Then at the others. Then at me. Then at my fist.
To my utter shock, he accepted it.
"Of course, Miss Demens."
I looked back at the other three, letting out my opposite fist.
They glanced at one another before settling their eyesight on me, then gradually began bumping fists with me as if we were musketeers crossing swords.
"Space punks for the win!" I smirked.
Master's brows furrowed as he gestured at my words. "Space punks?!"
I scrunched up my face. "Well yeah, we travel through space and we are punks, let's be honest here.."
I looked back at Bane, who I swear was smiling beyond that mask.
My eyes moved to Gavin, who, poor thing, was looking left out.
But he was being utterly precious smiling across from us and being supportive even though he was doing and saying absolutely nothing.
"C'mon, Gav, you too!"
Jim frowned. I could see the rage in his eyes. "Oh he's one of us now, is he?"
I pursed my lips, "Well duh, he's the whole reason I'm even her, he's ALWAYS been one of us."
I smiled at him and he smiled at me.
Before it got awkward, he finally walked to us and fist bumped with the cool kids.
Joker sighed heavily, his dark eyes fixing on the relatively small ninja.
"Suppose now we're stuck with ya."
Gavin grinned.
That's when the snoring in the background abruptly ceased and a chair rattled and an old man jolted upward in a panic, "I'M AWAKE, FIRE THE TORPEDOES, WHAT'D I MISS?!"
We all slowly cut our eyes at him.
