dying

Sarah lay on the concrete ground, barely sustaining consciousness.
The Master, Joker, Bane and James Moriarty spotted the girl from afar and rushed to her almost instantly, calling out her name continously, to which she did not answer.
The four crouched and crowded around her.
"Demens!" Master exasperated, shaking her shoulder. "Demens, what happened?!"
"Wake up, Miss Demens!" Bane pressed, gripping her arm.
"Kid, c'mon! Quit faking it, you tiny idiot!"
Joker then slapped her leg, to which Moriarty slapped him for in response.
"Don't hit my wife!" The Irishman's eyes fell back to the girl and leaned in and held her face, "Sary, please don't die yet." "..yet"
Moriarty cut his gaze to Joker, suspiciously.
Her eyes had fallen and her body settled into a paralyzed stillness before suddenly throwing itself into a chilling convulsive state.

They all jumped back in startled alarm. "What's happening to her?!"
"Why is she doing that?!"
"Be silent, all of you!" Bane shoved the others back and abruptly snatched Sarah from the ground and scooped her into his arms, cradling her close to his chest.
Her trembling arms, legs and head dangled lifelessly as her body continued to heave.
The masked man looked down at her with genuine concern in his eyes.

He carelessly pushed past the other three and jogged away, the others watching after him, not entirely sure what they should be doing.
Something was troubling them. And they couldn't quite point out what.
What they did know was whatever they were feeling..it had to do with her.

Bane slammed the door to the TARDIS open and barreled inside, Master rushing after him, the two running right to a table where the Timelord gestured at the masked man.
"Lay her down!"
Bane was already ahead of him, laying the convulsive Demens upon the table as carefully as possible. Her body was steadily heaving and thrashing beyond her control and beyond her consciousness. Which was a rather concerning display to anyone witnessing the scene.

Jim was the next to rush in, with Joker right behind him, who calmly and cooly shut the door behind him and casually approached the other three men with little to no emotion on his face. Master pushed things away while rushing to acquire medical equipment.
Bane crouched down and watched the girl closely while Master did this.
His eyes cut to the Timelord for only a second to call out for him to hurry.
As soon as he did, he felt something slap it's grip onto his wrist. He quickly darted his eyes to his open palm to find Demens' own hand clutching onto his. His brows flexed emotionally at this, as he did not know what to do. Demens had subconsciously targeted him for a level of comfort..of protection...

As he sat with this, the Master returned with his equipment in tow, where he raised the wires up and sorted them accordingly. Here, he bent down and attached them to the girl, hooking the necessary cords to her arms, wrists, and finally turned on the machine.
Moriarty stood next to the still crouched down Bane, looking himself quite confused.
"What are you doing?" He directed at Master.
"Isn't it obvious?! I'm saving her life."
"No joke, Sherlock. I mean what are you doing?"
"I'm trying to sustain her."
"How? She's convulsing!"
"I see that! I just need to try to level her. To normalize her....because..."
He glanced up at her vitals shown on the monitor amidst his darting to do this and that and a chilling, solemn look of dread came over him and he halted long enough to move his eyes down at her still thrashing body.
"..She's dying."

These words echoed across the room, making the men feel uneasy, as they stood in a now painfully unexpected and chilling silence. Even Joker was a little taken back from this news.
Moriarty's dark eyes, puffy and red, his face going pale, fell to the floor and his jaw hung.
Bane's eyes stared off into the distance as he without thinking clutched his hand tighter around Demens'. Master hovered above her, looking down at her porcelain face, his expression teeming with confusion and confliction. He knew not what he felt.
He just knew it was unsettling.
This, in fact, was troubling the whole party.
"How can she be..dying???" Joker stepped forward toward the girl's unchanged status.
"What even happened to her? Why is she thrashing around??"
"It appears she's been electrocuted." Master went to adjust some switches.
"..perhaps multiple times."

"Electrocuted??" Joker replied stiffly.
After a few seconds of realized recognition, Bane lifted his head up and jolted it at the others. "Electro"
Master's eyes met his and his brows lowered as the answers to the questions revealed themselves. "It must be..who else would be behind this?"
"Which means they've gotten to those chaps faster than Demens thought." Jim thought aloud.
"So Osborn's probably a goner. Which means the reason for us being here is now null and void." Joker sniffed and cleared his throat obnoxiously. Then he started off.
"Oh well. Boo hoo. Good riddance. Back to business."
The clown moved toward the control panel, confusing the other three men, as he started to fiddle with the gears. "I suppose the best place to dump her off at is her place, yeah?"
Master's face crinkled fiercely. "What are you talking about?"
"I mean, a ditch works just as well." "Answer me."

Joker dashed his gaze at the Timelord and almost instantly pointed a finger at the girl.
"You said it yourself, Saxon, she is DYING. She won't make it past half an hour. She's gonna die and then she'll finally be out've our hair. Like it SHOULD be."
Master charged forward angrily, his fists so tight they went white.
"We're not letting her DIE."
"Oh yeah? You're really gonna waste time trying to keep the kid afloat?"
"She's vital to our revenge, clown, we NEED her."
"Actually..we don't. I, for one, never needed her. The Queen [censored] was your stupid idea. I don't need anyone to get my revenge. Just me."
"Why do you hate her so much?"
Master caused Joker to tilt his head in response.
"Ever since you met her, you have treated her with nothing but animosity. What about her offends you so much?"
"I hate what she's doing to you. To all of you. I hate what she stands for. What she's trying to turn us into..don't be naive. It's obvious what she wants from us. It's made clear with every world we visit. The way she treats us..on top of that, how are we getting any closer to revenge? Hm? Where are the signs? There are none..because she's been using us to save her little friends. She has no intention on taking us to her enemies. And what about her makes you so convinced she's even the Queen? She's used no powers..nothing to indicate she is who she says she is. Just admit it..we've got the wrong girl."
"NO. You're WRONG. The T.A.R.D.I.S. took us to her!"
"The T.A.R.D.I.S.?! The T.A.R.D.I.S. is the reason we've been doing this [censored]! Demens even called it; it WANTS us to help her. To turn us into.......them......"
He briefly grew closer to the Timelord, his face tightening with anger and grave honesty.
"Well it won't work on me."

He then turned and reapproached the controls, preparing to configure the settings for a new destination. "You can either help me work this or I figure the crap out myself. Either way, I'm blowing this dump." And figure out he tried.
That is until Bane slowly arose, his height almost increasing, his muscles flexing intensely, his fists curling, his breathing deepening, and he turned around, now approaching the clown, passing the dumbstruck Timelord with a tiny brush.
His eyes stared the clown down which quickly caught the scarred one's attention.

The two gazed at one another in intense silence, from just a short distance apart.
".......Step away from the controls."
Joker's hand hovered above them, his body completely still, still intent on working them.
".....We stay."
With that, Bane lifted his legs up and step by step, he climbed onto the next grated platform, growing threateningly closer to the Joker, his eyes not once leaving him. Until he stood and stared down at the man, his eyes enlarging in a dangerously intimidating manner.
"We are saving her...you try to leave..I will kill you."

This made the already tense atmosphere become even more unsettling.
What made it worse was that the clown displayed absolute zero ounces of fear.
He didn't even bat an eye.
Just stare right back into the masked man's soul with his own dark eyes filled with a vicious challenged rage. The Master watched this with a reluctance on whether he should stand so close to the two, his face already dripping with sweat, now showing signs of worry for his own safety. He didn't wish to intervene, but if he didn't, there'd be a brutal fight that would no doubt get messy.

"I don't mean to interrupt such a tender scene, gentlemen, but um.."
Realizing that the alarming sounds in the background had ceased, they all turned their gaze to the Irishman, who immediately gestured with his eyes at Demens, licking his dry lips.
Their eyes moved to the girl, and soon, their expressions softened to that of surprise.
"What the...." Joker uttered aloud.

All four men quickly darted to the body of Sarah Demens, staring down at her in a mass panicked confusion.
"Impossible.." muttered Bane, as he looked her up and down, his mind reeling with questions. Master shook his head in disbelief and quickly bent down and checked her pulse.
Her body has ceased it's convulsions. Her breathing calmed. Her heart rate was returning to normal. Her body was relaxed as her chest gently lifted up and fell back down in an average tranquil pace. Master once again shook his head as he felt her pulse move steadily and her vitals balancing before his eyes.

Their eyes flashed to Moriarty. "What did you do?!"
"Nothing! She just suddenly..stopped."
Master then grabbed a light and pointed it at her eyes, opening a lid back to check.
To his further surprise...Sarah Demens was completely fine.
"Nothing..." He stood back and stared, open mouthed, completely stricken with bewilderment. "This makes no sense...she was just on the verge of literal death."
"In what way?" Moriarty questioned, stroking the girl's forehead affectionately.
Master pointed with widened crazed eyes.
"She was just convulsing! Her heart and lungs were nearly set on fire. Her body was frying and turning on itself! That much exposure to pure concentrated electricity and the contusions given to her was not just threatening her life...her body was shutting down. Within seconds, it was going to fail. And now..."
He looked to the others, their brows raised in wonder.
He lifted his hands up. "What happened?!"
"Maybe something cured her.."
"I did nothing!"
"Not YOU, idiot..something else."

The Master casted Joker a heinous glare. "Like what.. GOD?"
Joker rolled his eyes, "I don't know, you moron, SOMETHING! I mean, Jesus, maybe she healed herself, who in the [censored] knows!"
Bane shook his head now, "Something certainly supernatural is at work here..as we all know, queen or not, Miss Demens is no ordinary individual."

He glared at the others who watched in reluctance as he stood back up and stared at the girl whom remained unconscious. "..We let her rest. Wait until she awakens..we'll proceed with our mission once the Queen has returned to her former state."

With that, Bane turned and walked to the couch, taking a seat, where Moriarty soon joined him, after giving Sarah's gloved hand a kiss, of course.
The Master and Joker remained standing over the girl, the Timelord eventually glaring at the clown with narrowed eyes, Joker seeming to be too perplexed to speak.
"Well that settles it.." Master said as he leaned in to whisper in his ear,
"Back to business."

He left to join Bane and Moriarty..leaving behind a motionless and soundless Joker, who emotionlessly watched the girl from that point on.
And none could tell what dark thoughts transpired in his mind, as the Queen carried on in her deep and chilling slumber...
