The men had moved the girl to a separate room.
A small poorly lighted room that was a far cry from the bright clean nature of the rest of the building. The walls were grey and splotched with unknown substances.

There was a mirrored window placed in the center of the wall, while an unusual metal chair rested at the heart of the environment. A metal chair crafted to conform to the human body, with two metal wrist restraints designed into the arm rests.

This was no ordinary room.
This room was intended for something worse than what the rest of the building portrayed itself as.

Corner and Smit led Ashley inside, with two of their men separating from the small group to approach the machine placed beside the chair.

It was turned on by one of the men, while the other walked to the side of the chair.
They nodded at the girl.

She looked at everything ahead of her with fear and wide-eyed knowledge of what this place was. And what was about to happen.

She jerked her head up at Corner, her expression transitioning to one on the verge of tears.
"Please don't do this, sir. Please."

Corner ignored this.
"Go on."

He gave her a push in the direction of the chair.
She stumbled onward, curling her shaking fists, her face teeming with dread and sorrow.

She paused infront of the chair, swallowing hard as she stared at it, knowing its dark intention.

"Sit"

She quivered and hesitated until her eyes closed and she turned around.
She finally seated atop the cold metal surface of the mysterious chair.

She tried to hide her whimpers from the four men, but it was in vain.
The emptiness of the room caused her noises to echo.

She shifted here and there, her eyes remaining closed, as the two men approached either side of her. One began restraining her wrists, which she increasingly whimpered over.

The other took hold of the metal headpiece placed at the top of the chair.
He brought it down over top her head, the metal making a steady clicking sound as it moved.

He fastened it onto her, the piece sucking in around her cranium.
She yelped. Silently, she began to cry.

The headpiece was connected to wires which ran back to the machine.
The machine in question now registered the girl's vitals.

The men turned their gaze to Corner and shook their heads to indicate that everything was ready. Corner lifted his chin.

He slowly began to approach the chair.
Ashley, hearing his loud yet calculated footsteps, opened her eyes and peered as hard as she could at him, while being stiffly kept in place by the restraints and headpiece.

Corner slowly crouched down to her level, giving her an intense and emotionless stare.

"Ashley. . I want you to find someone. . I want you to use your abilities to see what they have done. . . are doing. . and what they will do. And I want you to do so now. . do you understand?"

Ashley did not respond.
Her eyes fell to the floor and she closed them.

"Ashley"

After a few moments of silence, the girl returned her eyes to him.
"Please. . I'm begging you. . don't make me do this."

His chin lifted up, his eyes glazing.
"It's necessary. You must. You're doing good work for the planet."

"No. . . . no. . . . this isn't right. . . this is not good. . . you . . your people. . you're on the wrong side. ."

"There's no such thing, kid."
Smit hissed in her ear.

"Please"
Ashley continued pleading, despite knowing it was in vain.
"I don't want to do this to them. . they're saving people. . they're heroes. ."

Corner tilted his head like an animal.
"You like them. . don't you?"

She nodded her trembling head in agreement.

He lowered his head and took a deep breath, briefly glaring at Smit.
At once, he got closer.

"Well. . . Ashley. . which do you like better. . . them. . . or your parents?"

In that instant, Ashley burst into tears.
She forced her eyes back shut and turned her head away, squeezing her fists tight.

Corner stood back up, taking deep concentrated breaths.

"They're not heroes, Ashley. . these men are murderers. . what they and that girl are doing now is wrong. . they've crossed the line."

"Don't make me do this, please."
She continued begging, tears streaming down her face.

"They're tearing the worlds apart! All they do is hurt people!"

Ashley's eyes instantly focused in on him.
". . . And you're not?"

Corner's chest rose, his face flushed with red.
He took one final breath, one final glare at Smit, before spinning around and angrily pointing a finger at his goons.
"Start. Now."

The men carried out their orders.
One switched the machine to maximum power, initiating the "Interrogation" option.

Ashley squeezed her eyes shut instantly, tensing up her entire body.
She cried out as the headpiece seared painfully into her skull.

A loud whirling sound came from the machine that's volume only increased and intensified.

Smit edged closer, watching the girl with intensely fixed eyes.
"What do you see, Ashley?"

Ashley continued crying as she gripped onto the arm of the chair.
"I can't. . I can't. ."

"Tell us. . now."

They increased the power by a nodge.
She yelped again and cried even more.

"They. . they went to. . . so many worlds. . they defeated. . so many monsters. . and now they're. . they're. ."
She hesitated.

"They're WHAT?!"
Corner barked.

But she remained silent, eyes closed.
Tears still ran down her delicate young face.

Corner squeezed his fists tightly, furious flames burning within his eyes.
"Have it your way."

He pushed the man aside and turned the knob all the way to an even higher power.

Ashley screamed.
