Fourteen - Pt. 1 -

Chapter 14 in which the company venture into the city and make a shocking discovery..

HASJHS;A;AWJKDWKALDH;.WLJKDW.KA

AT LONG LAST, A MODERN CHARACTER WORLD.
AND A SUPERHERO ONE, AT THAT.
DELKDKWKWL'DJWKLDJWED/WEKEJAL/JWFE

BUT GUYS, I JUST, KJDLWJD.WLKJDWJDWE

"HOLY SMOKES" I squealed as I rotated, scarcely aware that the boys had caught up and arrived behind me. I rotated so much, I about got dizzy.
Soon I was seeing multiples as Spiderman's face was plastered all over the city's TV screens.
Doing great feats, saving lives, practically posing for the camera.

I was flipping once again. Everything felt like a dream.
I was so excited, I was about to pass out. My chest swelled uncontrollably, my vision blurring, my jaw hurting from gaping and grinning so much. I couldn't even.

"What is this place????" Master questioned at last.
"New York, by the looks of it." Joker answered before I could.
He moved his dark eyes to the screens above the five of us. "Who dat?"
I darted my own eyes to him and raised my brows in utter shock. "SERIOUSLY?!"
"That's Arachnid Boy, right??"
That's 1 point for Jim...sort've.

"Indeed, my lad, that's Spider-Man."
"Who the...ffffudge...is Spider-Man??"
The clown was trying my patience in more ways than one.
"He's a superhero. Think Batman's scale, but with actual superpowers. He adopted the abilities of spiders, like shoot web, crawl walls, jump a huge distance, super fast reflexes, spidey sense, yada yada..." "You basically just recounted all of his abilities."
"I'm aware of that, shut up."
I turned back around.
"So why are you exactly so excited about coming here?????"
"Because as a child, I had two favorite heroes. Batman and Spider-Man. I didn't make it to Gotham, but coming to the place of my other fave super boy will do just fine. THIS here is a treat. I've still ended up with the next best thing."

I looked all around, still in wonder, still grinning like an idiot.
"And by the looks of it, it's the Amazing Spider-Man world. Which makes things even better."
"Why's that?" "Because..."
I glanced at the people, then the city, then back at J.
My smile grew. "This is my favorite."

My eyes wandered everywhere, making me happier by the second than what is socially acceptable.
And I found myself suddenly unable to stand straight, causing my knees to weaken.
As a result, I began to stagger. "ohmygawrd, I'm having a heart attack, this is too much, breathe."
I held my chest and felt my heartbeat accelerate.
"....actually, I've been having a heart attack this whole time, it's just really prominent right now, I've basically been having one very long heart attack, send help."
Cue the hyperventilating. I bent down and held onto my entire chest.
"But what's the purpose of this place? I see no significance."
"Who cares?!" Joker exclaimed. "It's modern times! With bathrooms and hotdogs and furniture!"
Joker rose his arms high, stretching towards the city. He seemed generally delighted, at least, which made the four of us uncomfortable. I recovered a little to rush to his side and show my support of such an American, modern city. "And Pepsi and pizza and electricity!"
"And beer and women and murder!" "And air conditioning and vehicles and savagery!"
"And explosions and gun powder and knives!" "And chaos and guns and darkness!"
Joker turned right around to the others with a tremendously satisfied expression.
"I love this kid so much."
Master shook his head, disapprovingly. "She's been with us too long."

I gave them both a smirk before looking back at the city and once again was overfilled with an abundance of overwhelmery. "Well boys, we've had another world picked out for us. Time to explore." "Wait, I don't wanna now." "Too bad, J-Pop, we gonna." "No, you just wanna find your super friends." "And no doubt ditch us." "Oh shush, you're being children."
"And do heroic deeds!" "Shush!" "You've come so far in the ways of darkness, don't turn away, young padawan!" "HONESTLY."
Joker and Moriarty sighed, not bothering to argue anymore.

Jim turned his attention from the city and scurried next to me, nudging my shoulder affectionately with his. "So you know your way around here, I take it?"
"Indeed, I do! Uh, at least...I kinda do...sorta....it's not like I have a clear map formed in my head or anything, but uh..." "You've no idea where we are." "Master, I swear....."
"Hypocrite."
"For the twenty second time today, hush."
"Well then, get to it. The sooner we leave, the sooner we leave."
I clicked my tongue as I skipped forward and pointed a finger right up at Master's face with a grumpy expression as I passed him. "Do not rush me."

As I turned to move, however, a car suddenly squealed right infront of me and missed me by inches, making me jolt out've my skin. A loud, blaring horn was immediately heard. The driver, of course, poked his ugly head right out and screamed and cussed at me like a true civilized gentleman.
"GET OUT'VE THE ROAD, MORONS." A passersby yelled, politely.
The boys gave that man in particular a very dark, murderous glare. But I simply waved.
"Thank you for your concern, dear fellow! And by the way, it's OFF the road, not OUT!"
I waved some more as he trailed off and my attention returned to the driver still infront of me, still cussing and screaming at me like a fool, clearly having absolute no idea who he was dealing with.

Yes, we had been standing in the middle of the road. The boys' bad.
I merely skipped out've the way and continued to wave, all smiles.
"God bless you, speedy traveler!"
He once again cussed me out before finally driving away, a trail of angry cars behind him.
I raised my arms, still grinning like a fool. "Lovely individuals! I feel so welcome in this fine human city! Spider-Man's not worth it, let's go home." "AH NO, we're staying."
Master caught me by the shoulder of my hoodie and pulled me back along.
Joker glared at me, meanwhile, with suspicion and curiosity and I didn't like it, what was he upto...
He slightly raised a brow and.. "I'm surprised you haven't used any queenly powers yet."
Joker, shuddup.
I didn't even acknowledge him as I turned right back around and started back the way I'd been facing. He seemed to, thankfully, quickly drop it. "Come along, boys, time's-a-wasting."
Not too long later, they were on my tail. Not literally, but, um, yeah.

Strolling coolly beside me, the five of us still, even now, seeming out of place, we trudged on into the great unknown. In this case being the Big Apple. To be honest, we do look like a gang of fugitive misfits. Even so, we didn't get too many stares. A moderate amount, I'd say.
There wasn't that much traffic. People seemed to be subconsciously clearing a way, both on foot and in their cars, as if they knew what we were there for. Thankfully, no one recognized any of us.
And had no way to check the boys' backgrounds, if they even existed here.
So we were in the clear it seemed, at least for that part.
What happened back at the Market Place could've been a lot worse if I hadn't convinced Thorton to take a chill pill and trust me.

Anyway, we made our way across the street and down the sidewalk.
I was silently seeking out any signs of the direct timeline in the ASM universe.
Newspapers, television reports, anything. That's when I spotted a shop window displaying about 10 televisions behind glass. I abruptly sent out a chirp and bolted from the company of the boys.
They were once again left behind to chase after me as I blindly plowed right across the road, causing people's cars to squeal to a stop and honk at me in anger. There was much yelling and more cursing.
But never mind them, I'm more important.

What I saw on the screens made me gawk. A lot. Quite severely.
"HOW?" I looked back and forth at the screens, my eyes darting like mad.
"WHY?"
My head and hands lifted to the sky. "For what purpose?! Is this for real?!"
"Demens, if you keep that up, I'm getting you a leash."
I heard the boys shuffling behind me, a couple of them huffing and puffing out of breath like old men. I backed up a couple of steps, just as Master uttered, "What are you looking at?"
I pointed.
They all looked.

It was a young man. About my age. With flat, emo-like brown hair coming over his bright blue eyes, stepping out of his limo just to be instantly swarmed by paparazzi. Camera flashes went off everywhere and every person imaginable started stuffing themselves uber close to him, just to shove their microphones in his face. He held onto his scarf, tightening it, as he buttoned up his black trench coat and proceeded to push through the crowd to get to the building ahead of him.
"..Harry."

Bane eyed me. "Harry?" It was funny to hear him utter such an informal name in his little accent.
"Osborn..Harry Osborn. He's a friend of--" I briefly cut my eyes at the others and cleared my throat.
"--Spider-Man."
Now Master casted his eyes at me, and at that, swung his body around to face me with great judgment. "Demens, I understand we're on opposing sides. Yes, we have been out of our elements and have not seemed as, mm, intense as you're used to..and I understand you're a smart enough girl to be cautious around us with this sort of information. But we are not the enemies of THIS world. We don't care who's who or what's what for the purpose of destroying them. Only for the purpose to know what in the *beep* is going on, so YOU can go and save the worlds."
I crossed my arms at this and turned my body to the side, raising a brow at him.
"--Now, I think it's reasonable to give us the information we need to navigate quicker in these places. Because as long as we are your traveling companions, we'll remain faithful to your wish for us not to harm anyone..with..conflicting life decisions..otherwise, keeping the information from us would be a foolish move on your part, love, one I'm hoping you're too smart to make. Now please..information."

The Master had a point.
I definitely needed the help. Although I was right to be cautious, keeping things from the four would only wind up complicating things. Besides..I was already hiding enough.
My eyes cut to the screens one more time, before they returned to the four crooks.
"Harry Osborn is the son of Norman Osborn. In the first ASM, Norman was sick and in need of a cure, which he depended on Curt Connors, a doctor connected to Norman's company Oscorp, to come up with in time to save him. And a thing did come up..just..not one ready for human trials. Curt was pushed, and with not enough time to wait and see the effects of what he had been working so hard on, he tested it on himself..annndddd the Lizard was born."
My eyes rolled to Master, who had raised brows.
"The cure was originally meant for people to heal, recover, drawn from the DNA of a lizard due to their ability to regrow missing limbs. However, it was faulty. And instead of giving someone the ability to heal, it literally transforms your biology and turns you into a legit human-sized lizard.
It messed with Curt's head, a normally brilliant and decent man, and as a result, he came up with the grand conclusion that humans as they are are weak and therefore shall be CURED of their humanity and turned into lizards, as well..yeah....but Spider-Man...also known as..Peter..Parker.....ugh.."
"Go on." "..stopped him. Curt was put in prison and life went on. But Norman only got worse. In the beginning of ASM2, Harry Osborn, his son, returned from abroad. The two have a rather rocky relationship and were never really close. Norman shipped him off to boarding school at an early age and took no real part in his life. So as you can imagine, Harry was..is..pretty resentful."

My eyes returned to the televisions and I read the caption.
".....Norman's gonna be dying soon...Harry just got back."
All the boys' eyes looked to see what I saw.
"..So Norman dies?" "Yep. The sickness..the 'goblin disease'..overcomes his body. Unfortunately for Harry..he inherited what his dad had. At the exact same age, too."
J stepped up closer to the glass and pointed. "So he dies, too?"
"No...no, he lives..in a way.."
They all looked at me.
"..if you can call being sick in a prison 'living'.."
"Prison?! What the *beep* did the rich boy do?!"
My eyes enlarged as I breathed deeply.
"He became just as desperate as his father was to survive, and he came up with the grand assumption that if he got a hold of Spidey's blood, he'd be cured. The spider venom gave Peter the spider abilities, including self-heal. Harry came to him about this..but Peter refused."
"Refused?? Just like a hero..his friend's in trouble and he refuses to help him, the selfish *beep*." "..Peter refused because he WAS his friend. He refused because he didn't know the effect the venom would have on Harry's illness. It could make things even worse and he couldn't let that happen. Yes, Harry was dying, but suffering something greater is far worse than death. Harry was the one being impatient. Peter tried to find ways to save him and needed more time. But it was basically the Norman/Curt incident all over again. Harry entered desperate mode..grew impatient..and was worse off than what he already was because of it. Peter told him he wanted to find other ways, but Harry got angry. He went to find where the original spider venom was, which was unfortunately publicly disposed of due to the Curt Connors incident. He found out the location of where they secretly stored it. But before he could retrieve it, one of the head people of Oscorp, Donald Menken, approached him, framing him for covering up the inhuman experiments done in a place called Ravencroft, and he kicked him out, so he could usurp power over the company. In a fit of revenge, Harry rushed to Ravencroft to find...him.."
Master glared. "Who?"
"Electro..Max Dillon..probably the most tragic character in the movie next to Gwen Stacy."

My eyes returned to the screen.
"Max was an electrician at Oscorp. He was seemingly unnoticed, unimportant..despite how much he had done for the company..people looked down on him..used him..he was never appreciated, not by anyone..until a little accident occurred in a dark part of Oscorp..he was sent on his birthday to fix an electrical tube thing that had gotten unattached. He connected it..when it suddenly electrocuted him, and he fell down right into an experimental electric eel tank. The eels wound up swarming him and attacked him. And this caused him-" "him to change." J rolled his eyes. "Predictable."
"Hey, people change. It's not like YOU four were born wanting to conquer the world."
"You don't know me or my life."
"These things happen." "They seem to happen a lot in these movies."
"WELL THEY DO, NOW HUSH."
He of course scowled at me for this, but I only laughed.
"Anyway, as I was saying...he survived the accident, despite being presumed dead..and wound up stumbling into the city, with brand new electrical powers. The people, of course, freaked and treated him with hostility. Spidey showed up and tried to talk him into coming with him so no one would get hurt. But the buffoons screwed up his plans and one of the cops shot him, sending him over the edge and caused him to snap and attack everyone and everything around him. Spidey was forced to try and stop him, which turned Max against his former hero..and well...he was eventually subdued and taken to Ravencroft. Harry busts him out upon coming there, in order to gain entrance back into Oscorp. Max, trying to get control of the city with a new power-hungry outlook on life, wanting to be a god to all the people who never paid him any mind, lured in Spider-Man into a fight. He was defeated...sadly at the cost of his life..then Harry, who had found the spider venom and injected himself, which of course backfired, as predicted by Peter, took off with fancy new Oscorp toys to seek revenge on Spidey. Until he realized...Spider-Man and his bestfriend were one and the same. Fueled with even more anger and revenge in his heart, he decided to get back at him by kidnapping Gwen."

"And Gwen is??"
"Peter's girlfriend. The two were just about to go to England, where she was going to go to Oxford. Before both the fights broke out." "And let me guess..Gwen is rescued, Harry is defeated, Spider-Man wins." I turned my head at Master, solemnly. His brows lifted in surprise.
"..if you call falling hundreds of feet down from a clock tower until you land on the ground, snapping your spine in half, and dying instantly being rescued, then sure, she was rescued."
Jim put his hand on his hip, gawking at the television screens. "What kind of story is this?!"
"The hero ALWAYS wins. What's the universe coming to?"
"And THEN Harry dies?"
"No, he lives, remember? Got knocked out and taken to Ravencroft, I believe."
Master perked at this. "The hero loses someone and the villain survives?"
He smiled. "I think I like it here." "Well, Rachel didn't make it out okay and Joker still stands."
"Truth." Joker agreed, proudly.

"Then what happened?" "He stops being Spidey for awhile due to losing his girl and bestfriend, until his Aunt May eventually convinces him to move on with his life and pull himself back together."
"His aunt?" "Where are his parents in this??"
"His parents died, I think." "Yeah, they did. They were killed when he was little."
"Killed, what, I don't remember that." "The movies go more in depth and there's actual conspiracy."
"So he's raised by his aunt?" "And uncle." "Ah." "Until he dies."
"CRIPES, HOW DID HE DIE?!" "Shot by a guy who was robbing a drugstore."
"For God's sakes, does EVERYONE connected to this boy get killed?!"
"Just about. Gwen's dad sure got it."
Master threw his hands up in defeat. "What happened to HIM?!"
"Killed by the Lizard." "And you didn't think to mention that?!"
"There's like, a million subplots in these movies, okay?! Not like I'm complaining, I love them.."
He groaned. "..And what happens to Peter?" "..Well, he goes back to being Spider-Man and the last we see of him, he's breaking into battle against the Rhino." "WHO'S THE BLOODY RHINO?!"
"A Russian criminal, don't yell at me!"
He screamed in frustration, and I screamed in frustration right back.
Master abruptly grabbed my shoulders at that point and squeezed tightly as he stared with intense judgment. "Is there anything else or ANYONE else you're conveniently forgetting to tell me about before we leave from this conversation?"

I wanted to shrivel into a tiny bug from how nervous he was making me.
Are you gonna kill me by your stare or your bare hands, inform me man.
"Like, anyone or anything specific?" "Yes." "Well, there's Felicia Hardy, a.k.a. Black Cat, and she and Harry are really cute and I really paired them, like, a lot, but she used to be his father's assistant, then she became Harry's assistant, and then there's Menken's lackey and Gwen's mom and brothers, and Max's boss who's a total jerk and has weird bird hair, and random cops and citizens and people that Peter saves and Max's annoying grandma or mom that only exists in a deleted scene, and Stan Lee shows up-" "Okay, I get it, stop now."
"Yeah, you're freaking me out, stop knowing stuff, kid."
I shrugged. "Uhh, I'm sorry for having memory??"
"Did you even HAVE school?" "Oh, I dumped most of that useless junk out."
"Mmm, that explains a lot." Cue Master flinching as I reached in and flicked his forehead.
"And only kept what BENEFITS ME, you monkey. I'm not an idiot."
Joker chuckled sarcastically behind me. "Debatable.."
Cue HIM flinching as I turned right around and flicked HIM on the forehead.
"I'm warning you, clown, you're getting to the very last straw of my nerves!"
He grumbled under his breath as he gave me a dark stare, rubbing his skin of my minor assault.

Behind us, Jim and Bane did their own chuckling, which Master and J scowled at them for.
It was here that I turned my head back to the screens and bit my lip as I watched Harry enter the building. The news showed clips of Norman before he became bedridden, and best of all, Spider-Man swinging around the city, saving others, stopping crime, being his fantastic little self.
It had occurred to me then that the T.A.R.D.I.S. had taken me to a point before all the truly terrible stuff had happened. Just like Middle-Earth..
It was clear now. Something wasn't just up with the Others..something was up with the T.A.R.D.I.S..
All these conspiracies, I can't handle it.

My eyebrows crinkled as I watched and thought longer on this.
And even though I intended to keep it quiet, my mouth once again betrayed me.
"I can prevent all this."
Their eyes naturally drifted to me.
"What was that?"
"I can stop everything that happens. The T.A.R.D.I.S. took us here before all the tragedies and everything. We can save Max and Harry and Gwen and stop all the bad stuff from happening, like in Middle-Earth!" "Oh no, you don't!" "Excuse me?!" "We are not staying here for a week just for you to save 3 people!" "Suit yourself, I'm staying regardless."
He snatched my arm and turned me back around. "You're not going on your own, either, I'm tired of spending half the time trying to find you." "Then we're staying where the T.A.R.D.I.S. has taken us."
Master's face was overrun with confusion. "What?...this place is just a mistake."
"I don't think so....so far, it's been taking us to places that are always in the current state of being destroyed and RIGHT behind the enemies responsible. I don't think it's a coincidence at all. I think it's taking us to places intentionally."
Master instantly released my arm and backed away, a very strong look of offense entering his expression, as his eyes narrowed and his mouth ran open. "Are you implying that my ship is GOOD?"
"Boi, please. It's obvious. Think about it. Just think. Why has it been arriving just in time for us to save the day?!" "YOU'VE GONE TOO FAR. My ship does NOT save people!"
"It's not even your ship! You said it yourself, someone left it for you out've nowhere! WHY? You don't know WHERE it came from, WHEN it came from, or WHO it came from. Sorry to say it, bro, but it looks like you're being played."

His expression intensified. "NOW YOU'RE SAYING I'M BEING USED FOR GOOD?"
I almost wanted to laugh. "C'mon, man, deny it all you want. I think someone is taking advantage of you four traveling. You are being used as pawns for good."
"I DON'T BELIEVE THIS, IT ACTUALLY MAKES SENSE, THIS IS YOUR FAULT, I HATE YOU."
He stormed off three feet away, cursing and yelling and cursing again and I actually did laugh this time. The others stared at the ground, then eachother, then at me, then at the sky, no doubt to ask God why this thing had happened.
"I depended on one thing and one thing only in life, and that was to be evil."
Joker held a hand over his heart and looked as if he were gonna cry. "Now that's being taken away from me." More laughter wanted to escape from my mouth.
This was too much. I had broken their evil little hearts. XD
"Oh don't be so dramatic, you'll live." "What is there to live for anymore?"
Joker suddenly grabbed Master by the side of his hoodie's shoulder and pulled him in,
"Is all this even worth the revenge?!" He was immediately pushed away by the unamused Timelord, but the clown proceeded to lament on Bane's shoulder, the tall brute rolling his eyes to the sky.
The sobbing clown was loud, but not loud enough to prevent me from continuing.
"Well then, it's settled. We're staying. We'll find Peter and help him stop whoever's causing trouble and prevent all that tragic junk from happening." "What makes you think we're taking part in this??"
"Because I'm the queen, fool." "YOU may be queen, but I'M the Master."
Master leaned over and pointed at himself. "And what I say goes."
"Yet you remain a character. Last time I checked, that makes me your queen. Therefore.."
I leaned over, as well. "What I say goes."

With a winning grin and flash of the eyes, I jumped back up and turned around.
"RPS it!" Jim exclaimed as he hopped infront of me, holding his fist out.
"Oh no, it's too late for that." I denied, pushing it away. "We're staying and that's final."
"How long have you known this?!"
I glanced over at Joker, who conveniently quit sobbing and had swung around towards me.
"Say wha?"
He narrowed his eyes, suspiciously. "About the T.A.R.D.I.S..doing good.."
I rose an eyebrow, just before he started to get closer, and leaned to my side. "How long?"
Not being able to contain the ruse any longer, I made a rather devious smirk and turned my head away, "I've suspected for some time.."
His mouth began to fall, when Master jumped to my other side. "You knew all this time and you didn't TELL us???" I almost giggled and shrugged my shoulders.
"You little she-devil..you're taking pleasure in this. What else are you keeping secret?!"
"Wouldn't you like to know."
Joker narrowed his eyes even more and he ran his tongue along the inside of his cheek.
"I think Demens here's been holding out on us. She's got a bit of a dark side."
To this, I delightfully snickered. Jim peeked from Master's side. "Why didn't you say anything?!"
I shrugged again. "You didn't ask."

This actually made all the boys smirk at the realization that I do indeed have a dark side I've most definitely been keeping from them. J, in particular, took considerable pride in the matter and slapped his hand on my shoulder, cracking into excited laughter.
"I'm starting to love this kid!" aww! ♥
"Honey, back off, this 'kid' is mine." "Oh Jim, don't start that again."
"You still owe me a date." "Oh, c'mon!"
"We're in New York City, it has all the dating material you can ask for. It's the perfect set-up."
"HOW MANY TIMES--IT IS NOT A--ugh! Not today, child!" "Yes today."
"Not today." "Yes today." "It is no wonder now why you are still SINGLE."
"I'm buying you some roses." "Ew, no!" "Teddy bear?" "Do I look 5 to you?"
"Chocolates?" "Butterfinger or Twix will do."
He nodded and immediately walked off across the street to a little shop.
I wasn't about to pass on free chocolates.

Master stole my attention as J shook his head at the departed Irishman, Bane meanwhile shaking his head at all of us. Well Bane, no one's strapping you down, mate.
I turned back around to the artificial blondy, a.k.a. our favorite angry Timelord.
"So where's this Peter live?" "In the city. I think..no. Not the city. Somewhere..I'll have to find 'im. There's gotta be a phonebook somewhere around here..I might need my laptop."
"What about the rest of them?" "Rest of who?" "Harry, Max, Gwen, all those idiots."
"Hey now, show respect." "I respect nothing."
"Right, well, even though we're in a modern world, we're still pretty different, so..try to look the part, boys. Don't act so dignified or boss-like. Be hoodlums, be cool, be hip. Slouch, be calm, be lazy, mold into the crowd. There's no telling who might be here, we don't wanna draw attention so quickly." I suddenly rubbed Master's blonde hair as if scrubbing it and threw up his hood, then inserted his cold, rough hands into his pockets. Immediately, I turned and went to mess up J's hair, but..it is eternally messed up. The man never washes it, it seems.
I instead wiped his shoulders of lint and loosened his tie, then held his chin up and grinned big, causing him to grin big. Next I went to Bane and crossed my arms infront of him, puzzlingly holding my own chin in thought as I thought hard on what he needed.
"..hmm...Bane, I say you need to mold in a tad bit more. Be a little less quiet and intimidating."

I snapped my fingers and skipped behind the three to a street vender selling hats.
I picked up a trilby and tossed a $10 at the man with a smile before returning to Pooh Bear.
I snapped and pointed straight at the ground, which he bowed to, and I delicately placed the trilby atop his bald little head. He rose back up and touched it, looking a tad confused, but was too polite to question it. He looked utterly hilarious and adorable, which is something for such an intimidating fellow. "Perfect. Now your mask is a little less noticeable..here."
I pulled out my pair of sunglasses from my pocket and handed it to him.
"Put those on." "Demens, how does this even-" "SHOOSH!" I rose a hand to the other two.
"Do not question le perfection of my disguises, they are flawless."
"Yes, but.." "Praise me, I return."

We turned to Jim, who came back to us wielding a plastic bag with both hands.
His eyes immediately rolled to Bane, who rolled his eyes to Jim, and both their eyebrows flexed in awkwardness.  "What'd I miss???" The Irishman questioned, eyeing the trilby with an open mouth.
"Me, obviously." I answered as I approached him and dug into the bag to grab some of the chocolate. Once I opened the special box, I delve in and crammed a few pieces into my mouth.
Oh, sweet mercy of the heavenly lord above, how good that tasted. Bless the modern times.

Jim snickered at me, awaiting praise, and I smiled back at him, waiting to stop chewing.
Then I reached in and started loosening his tie, messing around with his coat, and fluffed out his hair a little. Mistaking this for affection, he appeared to be enjoying it and he smirked at the others.
"I knew the chocolate would get me somewhere."
"Hush, I'm disguising you."
"Um, how.." "Just don't question it, mate."
Jim rose an eyebrow as I propped up his collar and held both sides of his face with my index fingers.
My disguising gaze intensified.
"I think you're ready. Just don't forget to blend in, meh boy."
"If we're talking disguises, we should probably pose as husband and wife."
"No rings." "Engaged." "No ring." "Dating." "That's more like it, love."
He grinned and winked handsomely as I wiped his coat of lint.
Okay, yes, I decided to stop fighting against the flirts, it is futile fighting the flirts.
I was just going to embrace them.
"You're warming up to me, finally." "uckk"
"Don't rain down on my parade, Saxon."
I chuckled to myself and ate more chocolate.
I was blending fictional villains into another modern society and stuffing my face with Butterfinger, about to go chat with Spider-Man, why am I always a mess.

At this point, my eyes turned to the city, at all the people idly passing us, completely in the dark about who we were. If only they did know. We'd have to go into hiding..
But yeah, I was wasting precious time standing there.
"I'm wasting precious time standing here." I flashed my eyes at the boys and snapped my fingers.
"Let's go find Peter!" "RIGHT" Master spoke, relieved. "Let's get a move on!"
"In style!" "In style!- wait, what?"

. . .

Yes, style. We were in style. And Master soon got the idea.
We charged forward among the crowds and the cars and everything and were now strolling along as if we were rockstars as I blasted Kai through the speakers of the city.
Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song", mind you. Rather appropriate, you'll find.
Joker, Jim and now even Master joined in on me dancing forward and lip syncing to the beat.
Even the 'awwaaaawwwwwwwwwAHH' parts. Yes, it was hilarious.

Bane, of course, was too good to take part in such shenanigans.
But he did find us amusing. And I appreciated that.
People naturally gave us weirded out looks, but we cared not, for we were cooler than them.
They were also wondering where in the even heck the music was coming from, flashing their eyes and thrashing their heads to and fro, trying to figure the source.
Little did they know I was the cause, even though I and the boys were the literal only ones singing and dancing. Sigh. Foolish fiction humans.

Anyway, we crossed the streets and got to an area I thought would be useful.
Twas a place I like to call the police station. The boys gave me uneasy glances as we five stood infront of it, and I knew exactly why.
"Why?" "She's finally done it, boys. She's turning us in."
"There better be a good reason why we're at a POLICE STATION."
"There is. This is where I'm gonna find Gwen." "Gwen's a cop?!"
"No, you idiot, but close. Her dad was the police captain."
They cast me such looks, I wasn't sure whether to feel bad or proud.
"Why do you do these things to us?"
"You neglected to bloody mention she was a cop's daughter!!" "Whoops."
"I'm out." Joker was about to take off, but I caught him by the jacket and he hurriedly attempted to escape, pulling with all his might from my grasp. He moved his arms frantically as if running.
"C'mon, men, we're about to lose her!" "Boy, calm." "WE'RE ALMOST THERE."
"J. Calm."
"I CAN ALMOST TASTE THE FREEDOM!"
"Joker, calm down!" Master barked.
Joker finally stopped and growled as he clenched his fists with a fierce rage.
"I WILL HATE YOU FOR ALL OF ETERNITY." "Boy, which is it, you love or you hate me, make up your mind." "I can't decide."
I turned my head to Master. "He can't decide whether I should live or die."
Master smirked upon registering my reference and I felt proud for once.

Moriarty snapped us back to the topic at hand, which is a real shocker, and came up behind us.
"I thought you said her father died." "He did, bean." "So why are we HERE?"
"Cuz cop families and all that." "And why are we after Gwen, anyway?"
"I thought we were after Peter." "Bloody heck, guys, Gwen is Peter's GIRLFRIEND."
"Yeah, and?!"
"GIRLFRIEND."
They waited. I gave them a blank stare. "..you guys are the worst villains ever."
"Hey!" "FOR CRYING OUT LOUD, KID, WHAT?!" "GWEN IS PETER'S GIRLFRIEND, WE FIND GWEN, WE FIND PETER."
They stopped and thought a minute about this, and eventually sagged, no doubt because they now felt silly for not getting it. "...oh."
I sighed and facepalmed. "Lord, save me Jesus..SO, our first plan of attack is to locate Gwen. We ask the officers where she is, we find her, and then we find Peter. Very simple."
"Why would they trust you enough to tell where a cop daughter is?"
"...because." Imbeciles..
"Alright, let's go." I was about to move, when I noticed they weren't budging.
Their eyes were glued to the building in semi-worry and paranoia.
Hm..yeah..right.
"Very well, I'll go." "Good idea, you go solo on this one, kid."
"Indeed. Now hush, behave yourselves, and stay.right.here. And please, don't kill anyone."

I pointed up at Bane. "You're in charge." "Seriously?!" The boys all yelled in unison.
Excluding Bane dear boy. Bane clutched onto his vest straps, looking all proud and empowered.
The others gawked disgustedly at my decision, glaring up at Bane with softly spoken disdain.
"Quiet, hush, your queen has spoken."
Bane gently bowed his head, "So sayeth the queen."
I smirked and pointed up at him as I started to step away, "That's why he's my favorite."
Before I could hear protests,  I swung around and sped up the stairs, directly at the station.
- - -

I won't bore you with the details of my awkwardly stumbling and wandering into the station and shrinking in size at the swarms of police officers scattered all around me.
I'll be honest, I'm a good girl, I follow the rules, I'm respectful to an extent.
But the sight of law officials makes me nervous for some mysterious stupid reason.
I feel like I'm doing something wrong when I'm not even doing anything at all, you feel me?
Or maybe, idk, I'm weird. People make me nervous in general, but, yeah, ignore me, I'm stupid,
pay no attention to my words, why are you even still reading this thing.

I proceeded to approach the nearest officer and asked where I could find the chief and they told me and I found him and he told me and then I left and exited through the entrance, cuz I'm a rebel.

The boys were still in position, waiting patiently, Joker sitting atop the edge of the staircase, Jim standing next to him, leaning against the edge, with Master standing beside him, arms crossed.
I climbed down the stairs towards them. As I approached, they lifted their heads.
"How'd it go?" Questioned Joker. "It went poi-fectly." I answered with a smirk.
"Told 'em I was an old friend of Gwen's and needed her new address for visiting purposes."
"Lies." "Not lies, I technically AM an old friend of Gwen's."
Joker clicked his tongue in disapproval.
"So where is she?" Pressed Master. "I wrote it down.." I said as I pulled out a note from my pocket.
"Wonderful, let's get this over with." Master turned and started barreling down the steps before I made him screech to a halt by my own screech, "WAIT A MINUTE, WHERE'S BANE"
"Right here, Miss Demens."

My eyes flashed to the brute, as he was approaching the flight of stairs, coming from the direction of a row of bike racks. Many eyes followed him, suspiciously, which eventually led to gazes falling on the rest of them. I mean, let's face it. My boys scream villain. And I looked like I belonged in school.
Wasn't a good image we were presenting.
"Bane, quit wandering off."  I immediately scolded, before walking the rest of our distance to converse more quietly. "Where were you?!"
"Don't be alarmed, I was only surveying the area. I felt as if we were being watched...."
My body sagged at this. And so it begins.
"..and?"
Bane's eyes glazed a bit and he turned them to behind him. "I can't be certain..we should hurry and find the boy. Before it's too late.." "Right. Once we have Peter on our side, we'll be square away. And then-" I punched my open hand with a huge, devious grin on my face. "-The real fun begins."
Joker rose a brow. "So violent." "I bleed Viking, so sue me."
"If we're being followed, we should return to the ship and find the girl from there. "
"Agreed. We can teleport and lose them, at least for a short while. Give me the address."
"Nuh-uh, you'll lose it!"
Master looked absolutely horrified that I just accused him of being clumsy and careless.
"Excuse me, TEENAGER, I am 900+ years old--I've seen and done things your feeble little human mind could never dream of..I can be entrusted with a bloody piece of paper!"
"Joker, you're talking about ME being so violent, I'm concerned I'll soon have to put this boy in restraints, cuz he's a constant walking Pompeii!" I passed the Timelord without saying another word.
They all glanced at one another before eying the area suspiciously, soon quickening their pace to catch up with me.

. . . . . . .

We traveled across the way we came and returned to the T.A.R.D.I.S., still sitting all black, shiny and pretty in the alley where we left it. We entered, looking over our shoulders to make sure we weren't followed to that exact spot, and we hurried inside, locking both doors behind us.
Master rushed and put the cloaking barrier around the ship, the same one he used on me, Corner and Smit that one night all that crud went down, to ensure that no one would see our ship sitting there after we five suspiciously turned in at the same time.

"Right," Master began, breaking the silence as he clapped his hands together.
"Demens, where's the paper?" "Right here." I answered, once again pulling it out, and made my way across the loud metal grate-floor, handing it to him with two fingers. He took it and unfolded it, taking one simple glance at the words, before crumbling it in his hand and tossing it over his shoulder. I gawked as he returned to the control panel and started punching in settings.
"Your handwriting is terrible." More gawking. "EXCUSE YOU, I write FAST!" "Don't."
"I have to! It's a writer thing, we gotta be quick!"
He sniffed a doubtful laugh.
I pointed scoldingly. "They did a study on this, you clod, sloppy handwriting is a sign of a busy mind! You're just jealous cuz I got a lot going on in my noggin." He became disquieted after this and gave me a few uneasy cuts of the eyes as he fiddled with the controls.
It made me smirk.

As soon as the ship rumbled and jiggled a little, we were in the clear for victory.
I grinned wide and swung around, darting for the door, as Master was about to speak.
"Now--hey!"
I threw open the door and tossed myself out to run straight ahead.
The T.A.R.D.I.S. had taken us to a nice looking apartment complex, a nice change of scenery from the explosion of businesses and office buildings.
Knowing I couldn't be stopped or reasoned with, the others scrambled out through the door as quickly as possible and ran across the brick ground to catch upto me. I zipped into the lobby of the complex and slid to a stop infront of the receptionist, my boots squealing underneath me.

"Excuse me!" I exclaimed. She looked up with red, tired eyes, trying to muster as much energy as she could. "Yes, ma'am?" "What floor does Gwen Stacy reside at? Is it the 20th?"
The woman nodded, "Mmhm! I'll ring you up and tell her you're coming--can I have a name?"
"Oh no, don't worry, that's fine, I actually wanna surprise her."
She smiled and silently mouthed an 'okay'.
As the boys entered, I looked over at them, them skidding in out of breath and lowered to bent positions, trying to catch it. The woman glanced at them and her smile died down as she clearly saw how...colorful..they were. I looked back at her and hurriedly fixed this with a large, convincing beam.
"We're cosplayers. Getting ready for a shoot!"
Confidence returned to her expression and she nodded, her smile back in place.
I nodded gratefully as I backed away, "Thanks so much!"
"You're welcome."

I gravitated towards the elevators, silently ushering the others to follow me, and they did so.
I cleared my throat as we huddled into a small circle and I nodded my head.
"Right, so..Master, JIm, you two come with me. Joker, Bane, you stay here. I want her to trust me upon meeting me, and no offense, but these two look the most normal."
"Right.." J said, out of breath still.
Bane nodded in agreement. "We'll stand watch, Miss Demens."
"That's my boy." I pat his mask.
"Now, we're gonna chat, find Pete, locate the scum causing trouble here, and zip out asap to the next world, once we kick their bee-hind. We clear on the plan, lads?"
They all nodded. I gave a thumbs up. "Let's rock-n-roll, bros."
I turned, pressed a button, a loud dinging occurred, and as soon as the elevator doors opened, I, Master and Jim stepped through, swung around, and saluted off to the brute and clown as the golden doors closed back up.

. . .

As the doors opened and revealed the designated floor, we three walked out and hurried along, trying to find the right door. "Which one is it?" Questioned Jim, who casually put an arm around my shoulders. I just ignored it. "Apartment twenty sixteen, I believe." "Good memory."
"Well, ya know."
We found the right door and positioned ourselves infront of it. Even now, I felt a surge of nervousness as I took a deep breath, getting ready for the big moment.
I cleared my throat, shifted in place, knocked three times, and let out a breath as my eyes returned to the Timelord. "I'm the Queen and all that."
Jim slightly smiled, Master flexing his brows amusingly, right before the door was immediately opened up and my heart skipped as Gwen Stacy was now standing before me.

This is her

A pretty girl, about my age, with bright blonde hair put into a messy bun, wearing a pink blouse and tan capris. My facial expression changed to glee. "GWEN!"
I couldn't help it. I grabbed her shoulders and excitedly jumped up and down.
"YOU'RE ALIVE!!"
She jerked her head back. "..e..excuse me??"
I ceased. "Oh..yeah.." "Who are you??"
I returned my hands to my sides. "Right! About that...uhhh..I'm Sarah."
I let out a hand, with a cheesy grin.
"Sarah Demens! And these are my companions, Harold Saxon and James Moriar---t--tt---tttt--tttaayy.....Moriartay."

She was weirded out. She was weirded out a lot.
But she shook my hand, even so.
"Okay....."
Master was clearly impatient, however, so he played the ultimate jerk and jumped into business. "We're in a bit of a rush, so if you can point us in the direction of your boyfriend, that would be lovely." I elbowed him hard in the side, which he grunted to.
Gwen's eyes enlarged. "Boyfriend?? You mean...Peter?"
"What, you have more than one?"
Another elbow. Another grunt.
"Forgive his rudeness, he's British. And yes, not to press on with the matter, but Peter. We're looking for Peter." I looked around. "Is he nearby?"
Gwen gulped. My heart sagged.
"..If you find out, let me know.."

uh.......oh............
my head slowly returned to face her and my whole body sagged in stillness, my mouth hanging open. "Say wha??"
The boys looked at one another.
"Peter's missing?" Master questioned, in shock and confusion.
Gwen shook her head, "Not missing, really..he came to me a week ago..told me there was something he needed to do..and then he left." Her eyes fell on me and I gulped so loud, it echoed off the walls all throughout the hall. "He isn't lost, he isn't kidnapped...Peter's gone."
