Chapter 5 in which Sarah visits her first world...
Initially, the plan was that we were going to get new duds, grab some food, maybe shop around a town for awhile; you know, just refresh ourselves from the crazy exciting experience we all just went through.
(...err, ok, probably mostly on my side)
But, naturally, something turned up.
In other words...life had other plans.
We sped like lightning through a steady-swirling vortex of blinding volumes of colors (I know this because the Master's T.A.R.D.I.S. conveniently had a little camera installed in the front that we were seeing out of through his nifty little control panel screen. So yeah, we could see everything that was going on outside the T.A.R.D.I.S. and it was INSANE).
I held tight to the control panel, which was next to the Master.
He was trying his best to hold on, as well. To be honest, I would've laughed if he lost his balance, fell, and start to tumble around the ship like a measly little dice.
The Joker was gripping on to a pillar, while Bane was holding on to the one across from him.
I failed to realize that in the midst of the chaos and excitement, Jim had hooked arms with me and was currently trying hard not to be knocked back against the wall behind us.
I glared at him, but he just winked at me; then he gave a thumbs up with an open hand.
I rolled my eyes and shook my head a little. He was such a flirt, it was outrageous.
That's when it happened.
The T.A.R.D.I.S. gave a jerk, that nearly knocked me unconscious.
The same could be said for the others.
I would've passed this off, but I became weary when the Master suddenly gave a yell.
That's when the T.A.R.D.I.S. did it again.
"Bugger!" He yelled, reaching for one of the controls.
However, his luck was faulty.
Without a moment of pause, the T.A.R.D.I.S. began to give out a series of merciless thrashings that nearly rattled my brain out.
"WHAT-----
THE----
HECK?!"
Was all I could get out between the restless thrashes.
Sooner or later, the T.A.R.D.I.S. began to feel less like moving forward and more like....
falling.
It was here that gravity betrayed us, and due to the chaotic thrashes wearing down our strength whilst trying to hold on, we were thrown away from our grips and were immediately tossed to the floor, violently.
The T.A.R.D.I.S. felt like it was falling for hours; though, in truth, it had only been doing so for a few short seconds. It was falling quickly, so surely it was going to bang us up pretty good once it dropped.
Boy, I hate being right sometimes.
During this time, the boys--- ok...and I---- were screaming.
But hey, don't get that idea. I don't scream like no banshee!
I have a more deeper...meish type of scream.
I've always thought the high pitched kind is incredibly annoying.
Before any of us knew it, we slammed against the T.A.R.D.I.S. hard, as it collided with the ground, sending us thrashing hard left, and hard right, and that is where my head came into disagreeable contact with the rock-solid metal of the control panel.
My body flopped back to the floor and I laid, motionless, spread out like cookie dough.
And then everything kind've went black from there...
~
Elsewhere, a pudgy little man and a tall husky one fit to be a bodybuilder stepped out of their rich looking limo infront of a busy Pizza Hut, the night sky lit up with beautiful sparkling stars.
Their luxurious arrival attracted attention from the passing customers who were walking in and out of the restaurant.
The tall man looked around the area with disgust, shifting his coat.
He inserted a cigar into his mouth and took a few steps forward.
The small man waddled next to him.
A man suited in dark, dark blue stepped out from the restaurant and ran his hand through his slicked-back dark hair, clearing his throat, nervously.
He shifted his dark brown-lensed sunglasses and nodded at the two men.
"Mr. Corner...Smit.."
Corner placed his hands in his pockets. "What'd you call us in for, Colton?"
"Kidnapping, sir. Or, at least, that's what it's looking like."
"What the *beep* are you talking about?"
"A girl. Witnesses are claiming she walked out about 15 minutes ago, in a hurry, and tried to get into her car, but someone came behind her and hit her against the head. Then they dragged her into another car and drove off. Witnesses claimed there were about three of them who took her."
"Why would I care about some girl getting snatched?"
Colton reached into his pocket and pulled out a photo of a young brunette with bright green-blue eyes. "Her name's Sarah (last name classified), about 18-19 years old. Lives nearby. We haven't informed the parents yet, sir, but we-"
Just as soon as Corner took the photo and had a better look at her, he snapped at his lackey.
"Don't inform the parents."
Colton stopped and sheepishly stood, not able to get out another word.
"Once parents get involved, they become a nuisance."
He then lowered the photo for Smit to study.
Smit's eyes narrowed with interest, putting a pudgy finger to his lips.
"Is this not..."
"The girl we encountered...so, she's been taken.."
"But by what?" Corner said, in thought.
He brought the photo back up.
"Any more leads?"
"No, sir." Colton answered. "She hasn't returned home and hasn't contacted anyone else, so it looks like she really HAS been taken...and not just..a practical joke."
"Of course, I don't imagine knocking someone out and dragging their body into a vehicle would be very funny to the public eye, would it, Colton?"
Corner gave him a look that made him feel like the lowliest human.
"Question stands, why was she hurrying out in the first place if she didn't already feel threatened?", thought out Smit.
"Witnesses said a young man came in and sat infront of her. Not long after that, she went running."
Corner's attention was grabbed. "Describe him."
He looked at his lackey with suspicious eyes.
"Average height, early twenties, maybe late teens, pale skin, dark clothing, dark hair."
"..Spiked?"
Colton shook his head. "No, sir. Shaggy."
Corner lifted his head and chuckled. "Hm..it's not Spencer."
"Could it be.." Smit looked up at Corner.
Corner looked down at Smit. "...him." He looked back at Colton.
"Take Spencer into custody. Even if he's not involved, he might know something. And I want this boy found." "Yes, sir." Colton said, before running off.
Smit looked back up at him. "This boy's become a problem."
"Indeed...the question is, what do we do when we find him?"
"...first, we have to concentrate on Sarah....she might just hold the key....to everything."
~
A young man with jet black hair, bright green eyes and a ghostly white complexion approached a set of black stairs that went downwards into an an underground train station.
He proceeded to go down them and came across the public transitioning area, which was littered with random garbage, the walls covered with tattered or loose flyers, the sounds of trains being heard echoing from within the tunnels. He looked around, in search of something.
There was no one around, so the atmosphere was empty, lonely and unsettling.
He slowly moved forward, scanning the ground around him as he kept his gloved hands curled into fists. Then he looked up at the wall.
He took a few long strides up to it and examined it. He felt around for something. He continued at this for a few minutes until his hands found themselves placed at the ground. He looked around the small area, not daring to change a thing, until his fingers found something-- markings, a layout of something that was once there.
He grinned wide.
"Found ya, Sarah."
~
I can't remember the last time I had as bad a headache, but boy, was my head aching.
I awoke next to the Master, who's eyes were still shut, his body motionless.
I turned my attention to Jim, who was also unconscious; then Joker, who was stirring, holding on to his stomach; then to Bane, who was sitting up against a wall, his eyes open, but somewhat drowsy looking.
I winced as I crawled up to my feet and stumbled over to him, eventually collapsing back down.
"Bane!" I exclaimed.
He cut his eyes to me, his breathing slowly paced, growing faint.
".....what......does...." He sounded injured and weak, if not delirious.
I put a hand on his shoulder. "Are you alright?"
He slowly pointed to my head.
I became worried and touched around it; that's when my fingers touched something wet and sticky.
I looked and saw red blotches stuck to my hand's skin.
Apparently, I didn't just hit my head. I cut it.
Despite my worries, I shook my injured head and tended back to him.
"Never mind me, I just wanna know if you're alright."
Bane took more slow and steady breaths through his mask and looked away, wanting to close his eyes. I gently shook his arm to keep him awake.
That's when I remembered that one scene from Dark Knight Rises and realized that the small tubes on Bane's mask were disconnected.
Treating it sort've like Tetris, I reached in and immediately placed all the tubes back where they fit and this didn't go unnoticed.
Bane's breathing slowly started to improve and he made a few grunts as he attempted to stand.
Once he was eventually up, and had a few minutes to recuperate, he nodded me off.
I waited a little for a possible sentence of gratitude, but then I remembered, hey, he's a villain.
I turned around to tend to someone else, when I heard a somewhat delayed, reluctant, but fairly appreciative "thank you" come from behind.
I paused, looked behind me and smiled at his direction.
Without a word, we parted ways and I hurried to check on the Joker.
"Joker, old man, speak to me!"
I shook him a bit, even though he was already awake.
He peeked over at me. "....Demens...."
I smirked. "Any injuries?" "None that are world ending."
He tried to smile as he forced himself to sit up. "You?"
"Same." I nodded and pat his shoulder, then hurried to Jim.
"Hey, you old dead beat! You gonna sleep all day or are we gonna have to leave you behind?"
"That is, of course, assuming it's even day time." Joker said from behind.
I looked and saw that he was stretching and cracking his neck.
That's when I felt a swift peck on the side of my face.
I flinched and quickly looked down at Jim, who was obviously playing dead, his arms and legs spread out wide across the floor.
I gave him the most furious scowl and shot up.
"...Looks like Jim is out cold." I could then confirm he was awake, by him trying to hide a smirk.
That's when I proceeded to stomp, hard, on his stomach.
His body lunged upwards, as he winced in pain, and made a quick yelp, soon curling his body into a ball.
"That's for giving me unwanted affection, fool!" I shook my head at him and turned, walking a short distance away to the Master.
Joker approached and stood over Jim, shaking his head in shame of his comrade, but at the same time smirking at his pain. "You brought that on yourself." He informed him, which made me chuckle.
I crouched down to the Master's level and reluctantly laid a hand on his back.
I cautiously leaned in a little, having a little trouble remembering to do something important, such as to breathe. "..M-Master?...are you..."
I waited a few seconds before he did indeed start to open his eyes.
His reactions to things were somewhat delayed, but I took joy out of me being the first thing he directed his eyes at.
I smiled, still having my hand on him, like a mother hen. "You doing ok?"
His face crinkled a little as he tried to think, almost as if he were trying to decide if he was ok or not. "I....think so..my leg, however..will have to disagree."
I didn't like the sound of that. I then put my arm around him and helped him up to his feet.
But once we got there, he winced in pain and stumbled a little, falling against the control panel.
Indeed, he had injured his leg, no doubt from hitting it so hard.
If I could hit my head so hard to the point of my skin splitting open, no doubt something unpleasant would be experienced by the Timelord.
He hissed through his gritted teeth and held his leg up, squeezing his eyes shut.
"Argh....bugger."
"Really, Harold, you don't have that good of luck."
"Don't call me that hideous name....mmph...but it appears you're right, love."
He limped a bit, painfully enduring the unfortunate injury like a trooper, as he held on to the side of the panel. He winced once more, holding his head down.
But then he pulled something out of his pocket. "Here.."
He handed me the small object and once his hand moved away from mine, I got a chance to examine it. It was a key.
"Check out the front. And while you're at it, see where we are. But be on guard, we might have landed on hostile country."
I nodded and obeyed. Hey, I was gonna do so, anyways.
I made my way across the T.A.R.D.I.S. to the doors; Bane was standing beside them, holding the back of his bald head. I looked to him with a small hint of concern. "You ok?"
He looked in my direction and nodded, still looking pained, his eyes half way shut.
I looked back at the doors.
There were sparks flying inside the alien ship, so it obviously took a beating.
I first tried to see if the doors would open without the key, but they only jiggled when I attempted to pull them. Then I inserted the small brass object into the hole. Here, I turned it slowly. Heard a click. And retried my first step.
They opened.
Outside, it was dark. Not night time dark, but just, dark.
There were trees everywhere, covered in moss and there was just this lifeless stillness that truly made the atmosphere haunting.
As I stepped outside, I could instantly feel something watching me.
The outside air was cold, damp, eery, foreboding and empty.
I shivered as I got the menacing feeling...I was not welcome there.
There wasn't a sound.
I took one hand and held on to the side of the door frame, where I leaned over and looked in the previously unviewable views. More trees. More spookiness.
A small part of me wanted to run back inside and lock the door back up.
But in all fairness to my situation, we weren't going anywhere.
Unless we figured out the exact damage to the T.A.R.D.I.S. and attempt at any necessary repairs, we would have to venture outside sooner or later.
So I braved it.
"We're in some kinda forest!" I yelled over my shoulder.
"What's the T.A.R.D.I.S. look like?" Master called back to me.
I looked behind me and examined it, just as the others, including the Master, stumbled out and looked around. The boys were obviously feeling the same as me about the area.
They all got chills.
But my judgement of the new environment was quickly overrun by the horror I was seeing infront of me.
No, the T.A.R.D.I.S. wasn't a wreck--- it actually wasn't much damaged at all.
It was the form it took.
The Master looked around, a bit deterred by the area, then he ran back inside, in quite the flustered hurry. Meanwhile, I stared at the ship in utter disgust, my mouth hanging open.
I then proceeded to run off after the Timelord, who was once again back at the controls.
"THE T.A.R.D.I.S. IS A PORTABLE RESTROOM."
"Of course it is." He answered, not looking at me. "We needed to use something that would blend in. Your kind is far too exposed to the idea of a police telephone box...it would've gained too much attention."
"This is obscene! I was kidnapped and now I'm riding in a time traveling toilet with four fictional men and we're trapped in a muggy dark make-believe forest! Wait until Hollywood gets a hold of this. They better not make me blonde!"
The Master ignored me and continued with haste to fiddle with the controls.
"Why are we here?" Questioned Bane, poking his head in from the door.
"This was not our destination."
"Do we got any snacks?" Added in Joker.
"And while you're at it, where the bloody *beep* are we?!" yelled Jim from outside.
"Perhaps we should step back inside."
"Ugh, you're all so dull...."
"Isn't it dangerous for such a small fellow such as yourself to use all of one's known vocabulary in one sentence?"
"Isn't it also dangerous to listen to your obnoxious mouth breathing all the time? I do believe I've gone deaf. Listen to you, you sound like a leaky tire!"
"Snacks, people, snacks! Does anyone know anything about snacks?!"
I guess the clown was really desperate to know.
I would've stopped them, but it was just too mesmerizing to hear Bane, the Joker and Jim Moriarty bicker.
The Master handled the controls for a few more seconds, but when something popped up on the screen, he stood still with little expression. "Middle Earth?"
My eyes popped.
"WHAT?! NO WAY!!"
I spun on my heels and booked it back outside, knocking the other three out of the way.
Middle Earth?!?!?!
WOW, man, just WOW!
I had no clue which timeline I stumbled into, but it didn't matter; I was there.
"Demens, get back here!"
Master called after me, but he was much too slow.
I was already running far ahead of the T.A.R.D.I.S., letting my excitement lead me to whatever there was to find. I think I was running so fast and so hard, my legs began to ache.
But I didn't care; I kept running, my adrenaline taking over.
All logic pretty much went out the door as soon as I heard 'Middle Earth'.
But at once, I stopped.
I looked around me, my heart thrashing about my chest, my blood pumping enough to keep America's power running for a century.
My head was spinning, my eyes were dizzy, my legs were wanting to cave in, but my entire body was shaking like mad, as I often do when I'm really excited or nervous.
"Oh, my go-od!" I said, ecstatically, out of breath, but still wielding a huge grin on my face.
My mind just couldn't handle it, I couldn't move any more, except to rotate in the same spot, staring all around me.
I was standing in a land that wasn't even supposed to exist.
Finally.....I got what I wanted.
But my excitement was immediately overrun by an abrupt cold trickle down my back----as I heard clicking and rustling in the trees.
I froze, and listened.
The noise became clearer and more vivid, to the point of me realizing it was right behind me.
I couldn't blink. Couldn't breathe.
I heard more rustling, much louder and frantic, but from the ground; then it stopped.
I could only assume it was the others.
And whatever they saw behind me made them halt.
I knew then where I was. Which time period. What type of danger.
That's when I looked up.....and saw the giant spider web.
"Oh, crap!"
Suddenly, I lunged forward. My legs again took over and I was speeding like heck, as far away as possible. That's when I heard an abrupt, incredibly real and high-pitched shrill and whatever it was behind me landed HARD on the ground.....and it started to chase after me.
a middle-earth spider
I made my way as best as I could through the trees of Mirkwood Forest, but it was hard--- so incredibly hard. And let's not forget this place had powers that would lead you astray; though I don't really know how I could get any more lost in a place I'd never been before.
Did I scream? Heh heh....
OF COURSE I SCREAMED, I WAS BEING CHASED BY A GIANT SPIDER WHO WANTED TO EAT ME, YOU TWIT.
but hey, I don't know what they were getting at, I'm prettier than a fly.
As much as I love spiders, these ones were huge and they wanted to suck me dry.
There was no reasoning.
And they were getting closer and closer.
I could hear it's loudness growing as I ran.
My lungs were so on fire, I wanted to just collapse and die.
I then decided to suddenly change course with a quick jerk and start to climb up obstacles, going in random directions to confuse it-- but before I could get to the rest of that part, and merely changed directions, the spider behind me shrilled with fury and confusion as it lost it's footing and slid into a crash down the path I was previously at.
I stared as I checked where it went off to and I saw it----
my eyes just couldn't grasp that they were seeing one of the huge spiders from Middle Earth.
My mind was reeling. Everything felt so surreal, I felt like I was still inside a dream.
However, I wasn't stupid enough to keep on staring and either let something else get me,
or give the spider a chance to recover and begin anew with chasing me.
So I kept running.
That is, until I heard the sudden chilling sounds of men screaming with all that was in them,
and I skid to a halt just to wind up frozen as a statue.
I spun around and began to curse myself; I left the others behind.
And now they were going to be eaten.
I ran as fast as I could back to where I was--- or at least where I thought I was.
The forest wouldn't let me as it led me astray with false appearances.
I tried to go in one direction, but it ended up to be a dead end. Then I tried another, and nope.
I was getting frustrated fast, especially when the screams got more louder and disturbing.
I slid to a stop and snarled, fists clenched tight.
"Forget it, you're not doing this crap to me now!!" I yelled, frustratedly, looking up at the tree branches. I shook my fist, "Show me the way, you stupid forest, or I'll find a method of burning you to the ground!"
I don't even know if it was because of the threat or if it just got it's feelings hurt from getting yelled at, but like magic, a path was being made before me, yellow stones coming right out of the ground quicker than lightning and it trailed on infront of me, out of sight.
I didn't linger on; I dashed down the new path set before me, praying and hoping this wasn't just another practical joke pulled by the forest.
Luckily---in a way---the screaming became closer by the second-- and I know this sounds terrible, but I actually smirked. The big baddies were screaming their heads off over a bunch of spiders...giant man-eating spiders, yes, but still. The moment was amusing.
That's when the path led me back to my original destination and the screams from my companions became all the more clear.
I spotted them, finally, huddled on the ground in a small group, hovering their arms over their heads, as hordes of gargantuan arachnids surrounded them.
And I saw that one spider was directly infront of me, with it's back exposed.
The spiders pecked at the boys with the tips of their legs and snapped their fangs, so I had to act fast.
That's when----
"You! Take the one to the right!"
"Bite them, bite them!!!" "MAKE THEM SQUEAL! MAKE THEM BLEED!"
"Delicious, delicious! An easy meal!"
"I bet they taste SCRUMPTIOUS!"
I couldn't believe my ears! I could hear everything the spiders were saying, in their high-pitched, scratchy, hissy voices.
But how?! I didn't have no ring!
That's when I realized; the T.A.R.D.I.S. could translate any language, no matter where, when or who by. You name it, you could hear it.
Boy, would this benefit for me.
Despite my new knowledge, I still had to act- sure, I could hear them, but could they hear me?
I didn't wanna chance it. I needed a distraction- something to divert their attention away from the boys- something to hold it long enough for the boys to escape.
That's when I heard,
"Where is that good for nothing wretch with the female?!"
"He should've been back by now!" "Curse it, I can't hold it forever!"
"JUICE! JUICE!" "So tasty! So crunchy!" "Must feed!"
"Then what are we waiting for?!" "HE MUST BRING BACK THE FEMALE TO US! I NEED JUICE!" "Sweet juice, sweet juice!"
-proceeded by simultaneous squeals and smacking of spider lips.
Found it.
I suddenly lunged from the tallish rock I stood upon and while in midair, I grappled the back leg of the spider that was infront of me.
"Sayyy uncle!" I shouted, just as it leaped in surprise, squealing.
Just as I hoped, the other spiders turned their attention to me.
I eyed the boys, or at least, their original location.
Thankfully, they are villains, and are in on it for themselves, cuz they were already booking it towards the T.A.R.D.I.S.
Fine by me. It gave me some alone time with the dark pretties.
The spiders all chittered and chattered as I held on to their comrade--possibly their sibling--'s leg.
What a wobbly ride he was- though he was about to get more so when he started thrashing his leg about, me of course still on it. I held on for dear life. My body was being thrown all over the place.
I was pretty sure by the end of it all, I would end up with a concussion or just plain massive brain damage, cuz I was receiving the worst headache imaginable.
To increase the thrill odds- or terror, which ever suits the situation best- the other spiders joined in and started biting at me with their fangs and attempted to knock me off with their skinny little legs.
I looked around them and tried to dodge as best as I could.
But that's when I heard an abrupt throaty, failing-engine like noise come from afar- and I knew exactly what it was. "Oh you are not leaving me here!"
I passed them leaving me behind to go and run off to safety, but that was just low!
Unfortunately, the noise distracted me, and me being off guard caused a spider to knock me clean off, uninterrupted. I was hurled to the ground, pretty hard.
The spiders gave delighted squeals, and just as soon as I landed on the ground, a spider had slammed over me, causing me to flip on my back.
It didn't wait long and soon had it's abdomen pointed out to web me, right before I stuck my hands up high. "WAIT, WAIT, WAIT, WAIT!!!!"
During this course, I closed my eyes, turning my head to the side, gritting my teeth with a painful tightness.
I waited a minute before braving the worst and peeked up at the spider with one eye.
To my utter shock, it had stopped.
I proceeded to look with both eyes.
It hovered over me, completely baffled by something as it's body twitched.
"What.....did you say?"
My eyes enlarged.
It cocked it's head slightly to one side, as if still unsure whether to decide if I did speak or not.
I loosened my body's tense state a bit, but was still in just as shocked a mode. "I.....said..wait?"
Suddenly, without any warning at all, the spider leaped back, all of it's eyes enlarged, as it scrambled backwards right into it's comrades, making horrid terrified screeches left and right.
"CURSE IT, BEAT IT! IT SPEAKS!! SPEAKS!!!"
"SORCERY! TRICKERY! SHE IS A WITCH!"
(a witch? now hold on now....)
"IT UNDERSTANDS US, IT DOES!"
"BITE IT AND BLEED IT! IT CAN NOT BE TRUSTED!"
Well then. It apparently did work both ways.
I scrambled to my feet and faced the horde of lovelies, out of breath, face stone-cold stunned and was a shaking mess.
They did not advance me, but rather stepped back farther away from me, no doubt in fear of my so-called witchery. I chuckled- couldn't help myself, really- but was still giving them uneasy glares..each and every one of them.
"Are you saying you can understand me?" I wanted to confirm.
There was silence. One grunted. I took that as a yes.
I made a nervous little laugh. "Right..." But then went down to business.
"STOP trying to EAT me! And quit chasing me! Sheesh, I only just got into this whole business.
A simple hello as a first meeting would've been polite. I mean, gosh golly--"
I started to turn.
"Who is Golly?!"
"BITE IT'S HEAD!"
"FEEEED!!"
"NO! BACK OFF!"
I threw my hands up as I swung around, in reaction to their stirring--
and something unexpected happened..they stopped.
Their many eyes blinked at me, as they remained frozen, confused.
"Bite it, bleed it, we needs to eat it!"
"STOP; you're not eating me, Sanfro!"
"Food! It is scarce!"
"We needs to feed!!"
I don't quite think they realized at the time that they just gained an ally.
I slowly approached them, "Listen...listen, we can understand eachother...I can hear you and you can hear me...I can help you, if you would like.."
They didn't respond, but I could tell they were listening.
"You need food..I know lots of places where you can get it!"
They all perked a little.
"You just have to promise you won't eat me.. cuz that would kind've be messed up."
I started to lower my hands, feeling a little comfortable.
"So...if you decide to let me help you..you won't eat me..and I promise I won't let anyone kill you. We'll be friends."
This finally grabbed their attention for good and they got a little closer to eachother, soon entering a state of endless whispery chatter.
"Spider friend! Me likes.."
"Our friend, the spider lover."
"Feed elsewhere, no feed friend."
"QUEEN!! QUEEN!!"
At this, they took me by surprise, and actually bowed! Fancy that! I'm a Spider Queen!
"Serve the Queen! Serve the Queen!"
"Love live Spider Queen!"
"Merciful spider friend!"
I jerked my entire body back, gawking all the while.
"Jesus, Mary and Joseph! If everyone could see me now!"
But something was wrong. The spiders' attention was suddenly alerted and they looked about, hearing faint crackling noises. I looked...I knew what was coming.
"Hurry, hurry!" I whispered, shooing them off.
"Hide somewhere safe! Be sure no one finds any of you!"
They weren't stupid. They graciously obeyed, climbing up high into the trees and scurried out of sight. I was left alone, but the cracking sounds got closer, until....I jolted.
A cold, hard, pointy object abruptly touched the skin of my neck, immediately sending chills down my spine.
I then felt a hand touch my shoulder and grip it, without warning.
I dared to peek upwards, just as the stinging sound of,
"Foolish human. You've ruined the hunt,"
rang in my ears. What I saw was making me wanna fangirl so hard, but I was too stiff and kind've not wanted my neck to be slit open.
An Elf.
I heard scuffling, thrashing of branches and numerous male protests-- I automatically knew them to belong to my four villainous traveling companions-- who were more than happy to desert me not so long ago.
My tongue ran along my cheek, irritated, as the Master, Jim, Bane and the Joker were pushed ahead by a group of Elves, swords unsheathed, as they poked their backs and prodded their sides.
I made an effort to give the boys very nasty glares as the Elves stood themselves and their new prisoners a short ways from me.
The boys looked in every other possible direction besides the one I came from to avoid facing my judgmental gaze.
Just then, another Elf pushed through the group and stomped over to me.
Without so much as a blink, he unsheathed his sword and pointed it barely an inch away from my face. Yes. I gulped.
Blonde hair. Fancy attire. Grey, unforgiving gaze. Way too sparkly for his own good.
Yep. You guessed it.
"I am Legolas, Prince of the forest of Mirkwood..and you, girl, have just made yourself an enemy to my people."
---- to be continued ----
Initially, the plan was that we were going to get new duds, grab some food, maybe shop around a town for awhile; you know, just refresh ourselves from the crazy exciting experience we all just went through.
